Christmas and the Non-Present BM

So I heard from SS13's BM recently. She is going to send him a Christmas present this year. She expects that it will actually get to us on time this year. Last year it arrived in time for Valentine's day.

We told her that we are buying an Xbox One for the house; so SS13 is getting the Xbox 360 for his room with a small 19 inch tv so he can play video games in his room and watch his dvds on a larger screen than his current 7 inch screen.

She has informed us that she found him Portal One and Portal Two for Xbox 360 at a used game store for him for Christmas.

I don't mean to sound petty. I don't. But I wish just once that she would take the time to ask HIM what he wants. Find out from HIM what he is interested in. Talk to HIM on the phone about the things he wants to do and not just try to play off of what we are doing. I know she is not a part of his life for the most part. But she is his mother. He is old enough to realize that she just doesn't care. And it has to hurt his feelings.

Sigh.

Does she not care, or is it the best she can do due to finances or other circumstance?

I agree it's sad either way.

She doesn't care enough to take the time and effort to have the conversations with him. Talking with him can be difficult because he flits from subject to subject to subject very quickly and then back to the original. It's part of his autism/adhd. She has never been able to deal with that part of him so she doesn't try to carry on conversations.
