You are here

O/T: Hi! I’ve missed you!

momjeans's picture

I think of you guys often and miss getting on ST daily.

We moved a month ago and I feel like we’re finally settling in enough to take a breather.

The last 30 days have been SO hectic. Lots and lots of cleaning. Trips to Lowe’s. Trips to IKEA. Kitchen demolition/renovation/evicting the squirrel that had access to our attic from a small hole on the outside siding, and having workers all up in my space for the better part of a week. Painting the entire interior of the house. Planning our garden and getting our raised garden beds ready.

As if doing all of this while caring for our 2.5 and 4 year olds, and a DH working five 12 hour days isn’t hard enough, we adopted a rescue cat. We kept her rescue name - Juniper. She is the sweetest, funniest cat ever.

The comical downside to the blood, sweat, and tears of ALL of this is MIL thinking this means I’m now in a good place to re-engage with skid and play mommy for 8+ weeks this summer.

Yeah, no lady.

I’ve missed you, too!

Thanks, our family feels complete now with her in it!

Right!? Hahahaha.

Wow you have accomplished so much in such a short time. Sounds great!

A squirrel in the attic, YIKES. Wacko

So glad you are back.

I know. I really got in the zone I guess. I also cleaned SO much within the first week that I literally could not feel my fingertips. It was incredibly painful.

Oh, hearing it walk around up there drove me nuts - ha!

And thanks!

Juniper is so precious!!! And that house!!! It's so organized and put together!!! I love it!

Welcome back!!!

Thanks and thank you!

I’ll be the first to admit that I have a lot of stuff to unpack, proverbially speaking, in regards to being an obsessive clean freak, but it has its advantages at times.

Thank you!

Oh, MIL has no other choice but to do a lot of bonding with skid, right there along with DH, because I bowed-out a few summers ago. My MIL is a piece of work (covert narcissist, codependent enabler) and absolutely HATES that I am disengaged from skid, and choose to focus on my children and my marriage.

She goes through cycles of trying to be BFFs with me, though, and they magically align with the few weeks leading up to skid’s visitation. Always. Hahaha.

Oh, yes! Strongest, most delicious Bloody Mary this side of town, and now within walking distance from our home!

You are spot-on, as usual, regarding MIL.

And thank you! That is in fact a mini couch for our littles (and the cat!), and that cute cactus plush was an IKEA find.

Hey MomJeans! Welcome back.

Isn't it just like narcissistic, delusional 'first families' to assume that...once you've scratched and clawed and put in blood, sweat, and tears to create something good in your own life...you should then just hand it all over to the skids. lololololololol

This actually comes up quite frequently with my DH as we're building a business and a home together. NO, DH...I am not putting MY time and money into renovating the basement if we're going to offer it as a free crash pad to skids. NO, DH...I am not putting my time and money into our mutual business so we can 'hire' unqualified skids and hand money to them...etc.

Anyway...your in-laws are hilarious. Carry on.

I’m sure her first thought was how that 3rd bedroom was going to be skids. DH informed her how it was going to be his office. It was so funny.

My in-laws are totally hilarious. Bunch of self-righteousness dimwits with a misplaced sense of entitlement and control. I am SO glad I no longer take it personally and can just laugh it off now.

The few times my in-laws have popped into our new home, and my MIL sees and hears all the work I’ve done, while caring for our kids, her eyes bug out and she says “Oh girl, you know I’m here to help.”

I don’t need her shady help. Hahaha

Congrats on all of it.  1st- squirrels in the attic- OH how I hate that.  We tried everything to get rid of them- my room looked like out of a vodoo scene- mothbals in attic...finally the traps worked.

LOVE the name Juniper- and that is one pretty kitty!!!!  Congrats on the new add Smile  It's the name for our new pup joining us in a couple weeks.  We picked out that name over a year ago when we were taking about getting a female pup.  So now we have Cypress (our Weim boy) and Juniper (weim girl) :)

Fudge the MIL.

Thank you!

That is a beautiful breed! One of my faves. Those two names are sweet together!

Lovely cutie cat! I agree with another poster that the cat probably needs skid to keep her company. *diablo*
