So ridiculous, but irritating and almost funny

So, a few weeks ago DH and I were grocery shopping with DD7 and DS4. I remembered DD needed a drink container for lunches at school. We get a her decently nice one since the cheap "juice box" lookin' ones we got last year leaked. We told her we'll save it for school and only school and not to use it before.

Fast forward a week or two. SD, DD, and DS are watching a movie. SD goes into the kitchen to get some water. She decides to use the brand new one of DD's. We didn't notice and SD storms out holding the thermos thing and says "What?! I can't use THIS?!!!!!!" She was almost hostile about it. I tell SD that No she can't use it. Its DD's for school(BTW..SD has plenty of nice rubber maid and thermos drink containers). I told SD to use one of the 10 drink containers that SD has. SD glares dwon at DD who is standing next to her. DD obviously told SD that she couldn't use it cause its for school.

Fast forward to yesterday. SD is packing for a week at camp. She pulls out a brand new huge fancy thermos for water(Her grandparents must have bought it for her) She's filling it. Grinning the whole time. I'm in the kitchen with her. DD says "oooh, thats nice! Now we both have one for school." SD just glares at her. Now..here's where it gets stupid, but slightly irritating for me.

This thermos SD has is white and pink. With owls on it. Now..Not a big deal about the owls..Except for the fact EVERYONE in this house knows I have a thing for OWLS. Some people like pigs and chicken knickknacks..I have a thing for owls and frogs. SD knows this. SD has even commented to me about owl things. But SD has also made it clear she DOESN'T like owls. Or the color pink. Or anything I like. This thermos is pink with owls on it! She doesn't like owls or pink. I'm thinking she picked out this container to try and make me jealous. I'm not jealous.. I'm glad she has a nice drink holder. I'm irritated that she did it to irritate me lol..Petty.. Yes.

She is a child. However..Some days I really feel like I'm dealing with a grown woman. She is very sneaky, vindictive and manipulative.. Which is the only reason why I feel like it was done on purpose. Sad

I've gotten those comments. I love pink and purple and SD has made it clear, since she was around 5 years old that she despises pink.. and me.

I know a lot of women and girl who were so overloaded with pink as young children that they dispose the color now.

Also some who dislike it just to buck the system and be "alternative". Depending on which group of friends SD is with she is either a super girly frilly hair and make up pink everything girl.....or a tom boy who says she hates pink and anything even remotely girly. She will swing whichever way gets her the most attention.

SD is a tom boy. She wants to act and dress like a dude, but wants to be treated like a girlie girl :?

"Go get a water thermos in HER favorite color and in whatever animal she prefers"

That actually crossed my mind. For a second I was willing to stoop to that level, but I won't and besides...It would trigger something in her and the next thing you know she owns everything/owl/frog etc. I've ever said I wanted. lmao

lmao..If she did that, she would surround herself in her hated color just to get under my skin. Dumb lol

I hate owls, actually it started as meh I don't care for owls, but now owls are everywhere and I hate them and people know this about me so they are constantly giving me owl shit. Even my step daughters proudly gave me an owl figurine they painted and said it was cause I was awesome. They were so amused with themselves. lol

LOL

I told them I'm going to re paint it back and grey and dismal, because I don't like whimsy and send it right back to them. lol

It would be funny if that thermos was really what her gm liked and now she's stuck with it.

LaMareOssa's picture

Could be. I can't see her gma carrying around a pink and white thermos with an owl on it. lol

Actually...She tore the little elastic band with the tag off of it in the kitchen.
