OT-Time for my best acting performance if I want to keep my job

iamlosingit's picture

Dr appointment this Thursday, time for me to pretend "all is well". My work is infuriated that it has taken my foot a month to heal. Dr office said "it's a tendon, it's not like we can stitch it and make it better, these things take time". I've been doing seated work only. Boss and safety committee is seeing red and saying I should be healed by now. In fear of losing my job, I'm going to go to my appointment and let them know what is going on. I will go back to doing my office/shipping duties, I will bring the boot with me in case it starts to hurt again, I will take pain killers, I will work. Seated work is not possible at this job, they feel like they have been accommodating enough.
FML.

You should look into going on temporary disability through your job. You have a right to keep your job and heal.

Do NOT do this! They are breaking all kinds of labor laws and instilling fear in you to keep quiet about it.

Consult an attorney. Heck someone here might know and give you a nudge in the right direction.

Do NOT NOT NOT do this. It could mess your foot up for the rest of your life. They are wrong, nail them!

The doctor squeezed my tendon, had me do some foot movements, and gave me the "all clear". She said to be careful because I can undo the month of healing very quickly. Told me to keep icing it and taking pain meds, keep the boot on hand if it starts to hurt again. So far so good. She seemed reluctant to do it. Honestly I didn't act too much, and it didn't hurt as bad as two weeks ago so maybe if I'm careful I'll be okay. I know better then to go to the gym and start running (which is what I want to do) hoping everything will be good.

If you're going to be walking and standing on it, just keep the boot ON. It will help keep it stable.

Your workplace is being really shitty... and really wrong.
