So at everyone's suggestion I checked mine and dh's credit reports. Mine was fine but he had a credit card opened last month with a 300.00 credit limit- 287.00 had been charged. His address on his credit report was also listed as changed on 8/7 to her address. Damn what a bitch. He called the credit card co and they are sending him a packet for the police to fill out. He has the one sitting here already from the bill me later account. He is goo g to all tomorrow and file the police report. Anything else weneed to do?

perhaps write letters to all 3 credit agencies explaining the problem and ask them to put a lock on your files..no inquiries, or new accounts without them contacting you first.

There is a service that actually contacts you whenever someone tries to open an account in your name. Then if it was you that request or applied for the credit account you give them your authorization. If it was not you then the account is automatically declined and investigated. I think there is a monthly fee but I recall it was small. Like $10 a month or so. It was called Credit Protect or something like that. It might actually be offered thru equifax or one of the credit bureaus.

Good luck! Fry that bitch.

So glad you listened to us....Now you need it from all three. Make sure they flag the reports. That means if anyone tries to open an account, you will get notified. Lifelock is not necessary if you do that. Why pay that fee? You can do it yourself. Make an alarm on your calendar to pull down your free reports every year to check them.

Now just don't back down and prosecute her. If she did this to him for this small amount, imagine what she could do with more information. Buy a car or take out a loan. If she had both of your information, she could do a lot of damage that will take years to recover from.

She had no intention of paying this back. Remember it when he decides to drop the charges against her and pay it off himself....

Im still sort of in shock. I mean, I know she was not a very nice person, but to blatantly open accounts in your sibling's name? Obviously required some forethought, not an act of impulsivity or desperation (she's charging clothes and video games). I mean, did she really think we would not find out? Especially when her address is listed? WOW. Also found out that she "borrowed" 1300.00 from mil and wont pay it back. Now, I guess I know why mil is asking for money from my dh-since she gave all of hers to sil.
