Grrrr! Why does he have to jump immediately to worst case scenario?
I know my kid has been the teen from hell lately, but why does The Mister automatically jump to worst case scenario for EVERYTHING?!?!
I was looking into teen/youth boxing, they have a no contact/no competition training program, which I thought would be a good outlet for my kid, since we “bug” her and she seems mad all the time… and she’s been hiding out in her room lately, so I wanted to find something fun to get her involved in… she saw the sign “teen boxing” and was all about it, so I checked it out
I mentioned to The Mister… his first reaction was “and what happens when she goes full contact and gets her braces knocked out of her mouth?”
I said “they have a no contact group, she can be in that group”
He says “and what’s to stop her from going over to the full contact group and telling them that you give your permission?”
WTF?
A) she’s a pain the ass kid, but she doesn’t’ LIE!
why would you just assume that she would even DO That?
C) Why, oh why do you have to jump to the worst case scenario when it comes to my kid????
I hate it when he does this… what kind of shit is he projecting onto my kid? She’s been mouthy...but she’s not sneaky or a liar!!!

Maybe instead of boxing... if you have it in your area, try a fully non competitive martial arts like Aikido. (I only say that because I do it myself and my husband is an instructor.)
It's aerobic, stresses non-violence and non-confrontation, and is fun. This way there is no "contact" group that it would fall into.

I got the details for the boxing club, teens and youth that are 'no contact' are NO CONTACT, period end of story... the program includes membership to the gym, which she can use anytime they're open (7days a week, 6am to 9pm) it's $100/month for the membership and the boxing classes, which are twice a week.
We talked about martial arts, but she's not as interested as boxing... I think she likes the idea of punching something
My step-daughter boxed for a few years and did pretty well... she had a car accident w/ a back injury which ended her boxing 'career' but she also thinks it'd be perfect for my kid.... I may have to more strongly suggest this to The Mister...
You can still let your child
You can still let your child enter a boxing club if she loves too. Let her do what she want but of course with your assistance and guidance.
