DH will have another interview soon!

Just giving a quick update.  DH has had no luck with a part time job as of yet.  He applied to Home Depot and Lowe's (no reply), Apple Store (no reply) and a few others, (rejections or no reply).   I've been babysitting one or two nights a week which brings in about $50-$100 a week which helps with the extras.

However, the large regional bank he didn't get the role for last year is back in play!  They had some new positions and they did a phone screen on Friday and he had a phone interview with the hiring manager (who would be his boss) today and it went really well.  They talked for an hour and 15 minutes!  She was VERY positive about the conversation and seemed to be selling him on the job, and both she and the HR person told him they are looking to fill the position quickly.  The hiring manager said she wants to bring him in to meet in person, and the HR guy will call him with dates, so fingers crossed on that!  It is a step down from the other position (not executive level), and the pay is 70%+ less than he used to be making, but neither DH nor I care.  He just wants to get a foot in the door and for someone to give him a chance!

A family friend (dad & sister's old coworker) in Alabama is also starting his own specialty insurance company.  He's raised 10 million so far and expects to be able to raise 100M in capital.  My dad is going to be doing a bit of business with him even though he's retired, and he mentioned DH coming on board.

The new company is going to be very mobile friendly (sales reps all on ipads in the field) and the guy knows nothing about IT, which is DH's specialty.  DH doesn't know much about insurance, but lucky for him me, my sister, and my dad all worked in insurance, with nearly 60 years experience between all of us.  I walked DH through my quoting platform and the different vendors out there.  DH actually built my company's first quoting platform in the early 90s, so he has done this before.

DH has done a ton of research and thinks he has a solution for them.  The Alabama guy is flying out for a meeting with my dad and DH Thursday, where DH will present his findings.  It is basically a job interview but Alabama guy doesn't have any other connection in IT so it could be a great fit.  Even if DH got the other job, he could still help AL Friend in a consulting capacity.

I hate to get my hopes up, since I've been kicked so many times the last 2+ years, but there could maybe be an end in sight.  AL guy wants to hire me too, with my actuarial, sales, and underwriting background, but I wouldn't for now, too risky to have both of us at a startup.  However, I'd be willing to help in a consulting role.

Sorry, I'm kind of rambling, just happy for once about potential opportunities.

In other news, I have an appt with my OBGYN today.  Just an annual check up, but can't wait to get grilled on how I need to hurry up and have a kid.....  My next cancer screen MRI and meeting with my oncologist case manager is May 31st.  I'm kind of dreading it because both of my last MRI found issues and resulted in 2 biopsies (one needle one surgical, both negative).  I also need to find a new OBGYN since mine is like 100 years old, only works 2 days a week, and doesn't use any of the hospital systems online portals.  I'll probably go to the same OBGYN prego friend goes to since she likes him.

Hope things start looking up.  I would definitely push to do the bank gig since it's likely to come with better benefits. Perhaps the insurance thing could be a side job?
