Hypochondriac Harry...part shi: you cried wolf one too many times

boogeymom's picture

Lord, HypoHarry, you cried "wolf" one too many times. Now HH actually IS sick, but because he's fakes so many illnesses/injuries, especially in the last couple of months, DH and I can't be bothered to care about it. PS, those were the actual words DH said as HypoHarry kept walking up and down the stairs, shuffling about, waiting for us to give him attention. It's only a cold, but you'd think SS13 has bubonic plague. This is one area where DH really shines, because this is something SS13 inherited from BM, and it drives DH up the wall, especially because they like to KEEP themselves sick. Oh, Munchausen Syndrome, you are so annoying... DH has gotten really good at ignoring him/minimalizing SS13's so-called "pain" when he acts like this. The most attention he pays him now is when SS13 decides to try something new, like about 5 minutes ago when he decided to start walking like he doesn't have any knees. DH said, "Why are you walking like that?" SS13 said, "It feels better." DH, "Better than WHAT?" SS13, "My hips are hurting." DH went to watch the Broncos game without a word. SS13 came upstairs about 45 minutes ago, DH said, "Have you eaten anything yet today?" SS13, "No." DH, "Well, you'd better eat something or else you're just going to feel worse." (Skids make their own breakfasts at my house most of the time.) SS13, "Uuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhggggggggghhhhhhhhh....." DH, "Nope, if you're not going to eat, I don't want to hear you complain about how crappy you feel. At all." SS13 made himself some breakfast. So irritating, but really fun to ignore when DH gets that it's what he's supposed to do because SS13 will pull out some interesting crap.

Semi-OT: Opinions on anyone over the age of 5 wearing footie pajamas? Mine personally is that they shouldn't even make footie pajamas for people over the age of preschool, because they are for babies. I know they make adult sizes, and that some adults wear them, but for me it's like, really? Yes, I'm a hater, I know it. (I just thought of this because SS13 is wearing them right now, which DH and I HATE because he's already such a baby as it is that it just plays into it even further...and I'd be willing to bet hard cash is was my in-laws who bought them for him since they're hell-bent on keeping these kids babies forever.) Thoughts?

OMG, I totally would if SS13 had an FB account! PS, he's apparently also not too sick to torture SS11 into squealing like a little pig.

Oh! Did I mention that SS13 just called M-I-L to tell her he's sick because we're not paying him enough attention, so now he had to call grandma? DH literally just said, "God, I am so SICK of these kids!" If it were up to me, they'd surrender their cell phones upon entering the house because too much drama has been started with them.

I tried it once before, but the biggest problem is that I was the only one enforcing it, DH just let it slide. But he still wants to complain when they do stuff with them. Sometimes I think DH was dropped on his head repeatedly as a child because he can NOT put two and two together.

Smile "I'm pretty sure my 4 year old girls in my preschool class have more man-boy points than SS13."

I miss-read that as "man-boy" PARTS. Smile

sd20 can blow any mild illness into a life threatening disease, too. and she looks around at everyone while she's putting on her pathetic show because she fully expects all of us to run to her side and baby her. she got a head start on her "i'm sick" bullshit for school one week on sunday night. she had been at her bf's all weekend and was fine, but as soon as she got home, she's so sick. she put on a thick robe, put my son's thermometer in her nasty mouth and sat on the couch checking her temp over and over again, looking around at everyone waiting for a reaction. i was on the computer completely ignoring her. fdh was starting to catch on to her shit (and isn't really the nurturing type anyway) so he ignored her, and bd went to her room and ignored her. of course the next day she was bitching about how she had been "so sick" and nobody even cared! whatever, bitch.

she has made up more injuries than i can count. i think my favorite was when she whined and moped about having "an infected tastebud". :?

Yes! Infected tastebud, that's still the best one yet! Oh yeah, SS13 has had the thermometer in his mouth at least 10 times this weekend. Today it came back at 96.8 degrees...so now he has hypothermia (this is my basal body temp, btw). They were messing around earlier and DH said, "Well, you're not too sick to mess around and be silly, you're not too sick to clean up this mess you made in the basement." Suddenly the out-of-control coughing began to the point of gagging. DH and I looked at each other like, "Hmmm, curious how he was fine up until just now...."

I should have put "sick" in quotation marks, because he's never really sick, he just likes to cry wolf about being sick by making random crap up. He was sick with a cold, but he wasn't too sick to keep coming up and down the stairs for attention. He checked his own temperature 150 times in two days, and it never got above 100 degrees. Once he realized the hip thing wasn't working, he stopped doing it and moved on to something else. He also wasn't too sick to horse around with his brother half the day until he was reminded that he was "deathly ill" and then suddenly woe was him. SS13 needs to cut the crap. I don't care about his germs, I work with little kids, I'm around germs every day. What I DO care about is his ridiculous attention-seeking behavior that has to stop.
