QUESTION... BM's White Sox Hat....?

BSgoinon's picture

OK, I am almost 40 years old. I don't think I am completely out of touch with urban slang and whatnot... but I just don't get this.

BM's stepmom has mentioned a few times in the past how she HATES BM's White Sox hat and she "knows" that is means something bad. I guess she even told SS that she had looked it up online and found that someone wearing a White Sox cap is a sign of gang affiliation. I tried looking that up and only found articles related to the movie "Straight Outta Compton". So I didn't think much of it. I just assumed her Stepmom was being paranoid. Although, with good reason.

But.... last night BM posted something interesting on FB and I would REALLY like to know what it means now. Her post says "BM is feeling amused.... Talking to the Police with a White Sox hat on.... Priceless"

What does it mean?? I don't get it. I sent it to my girlfriend, her husband is HWY patrol. She says he has no idea what it means.

Southside gangs in Chicago LOVE the Sox.

They adopted the hat a few decades ago when the Sox leveled Comiskey Park and opened up what was then known as something Cellular Field.

It's a gang thing, albeit a stupid one.

WalkOnBy's picture

yeah, it makes sense. Lotsa gangsta thugs live in Cali, as well, and she probably saw it on them.

Also, NOTHING she does makes sense - why should this be any different?? Biggrin

WalkOnBy's picture

Oh, she's for sure not in a gang Smile

She just wants to look as bad ass as she thinks she can.

She is just a stupid meth head who wants to look and act like a teenager.

Acratopotes's picture

oh she heard it some where in a pub or a dark shady ally and it sounded nice to her, now she's using it left right and center....

DaizyDuke's picture

She's a moron, I remember a pic you posted of her a while back and there is no freaking way she is in a gang. A gang of meth heads maybe?? But she has nothing to offer a hard core gang, she'd get laughed right off block if the gang bitches didn't beat the shit out of her first.

for whatever reason, she thinks it's cool and makes her bad ass... hopefully someone will be a true friend and tell her it just makes her look like an idiot.

BSgoinon's picture

I REALLY don't think she is in a gang. That's why I never really raised any concern when her stepmom said that. I am just wondering why any police in Southern California would care if some meth head is wearing a White Sox hat. Like is some kind of code for something. Maybe that she is dealing drugs or something. I dunno.

WalkOnBy's picture

the cops couldn't care less about her wearing a Sox hat. Just her way of trying to feel bad ass relevant, I suspect.

DaizyDuke's picture

Cause in her twisted realm of "reality", it makes her seem cool. When in real life the cop was just looking at her funny, because she was probably spewing stupid crap out of her mouth, like this one time at band camp when she had sex with a demon.. or because she straight up fits the profile of meth head with her straggly look, crappy complexion and itchy arms.

But hey, whatever makes you feel good about your loser self Biggrin

BSgoinon's picture

Oh yes! The arm movements and feet shuffling. Reminds me, the other night we were at a sporting goods store with SS. There was a lady there with I THINK her adult son, although the way they talked to each other it could have been her boyfriend... she looked MUCH older than him, and he seemed somewhat clean. But she was a junkie FOR SURE. The way she was darting around and smacking her lips over her toothless gums. She was erratic. SS says "she is acting like my mom".

Yup... she sure is.

BSgoinon's picture

Haha... I've seen her talk to a cop before, off duty, but still... a cop. It's REALLY funny. She tries to sound professional and mature. And throws in things like "per se" or "as I have" (i.e.- please don't arrest me officer, as I have no one to come bail me out). It's hilarious. As she is trying her hardest not to open her mouth wide enough for anyone to notice that she is missing several teeth. And attempts to cover her acne riddled face with her hands and then realizes that she is just flashing her track infested arms by doing so.

BSgoinon's picture

It is hilarious. She THINKS she knows everything.I love when she tries to speak intelligently about ANYTHING. It really does give me pleasure on a diabolical level.

moving_on_again's picture

Holy moly! I didn't know she was shooting up! How she has not hit rock bottom, I have no clue.

BSgoinon's picture

The first time I saw track marks, was really the last time I saw her. Other than in passing at SS's grad. She came to our house a little over a year ago. Strung out and wanting to take SS with her. Mad that I wouldn't let her without her mom and brother there. She knew I saw the track marks. Crazy.... she never came back after that...

moving_on_again's picture

Crazy that she didn't try to cover them up. I'd say she's shooting up daily. Next up - HIV and Hepatitis.

BSgoinon's picture

I think she was too blasted to even think about it. She was clearly NOT SOBER at that moment. She was wearing a tank top. Because she is an idiot.

moving_on_again's picture

Plus your whole body feels hot when you are on meth. I didn't mean that in the attractive way but BM probably thinks that, too.

BSgoinon's picture

Well, we live in the desert and it was June. So it was probably pushing 100 degrees outside.

moving_on_again's picture

I forgot. It's dumb that she's shooting up in her arms, too, well, it's dumb at all. However, you can shoot up in a lot of other places that people can't see. She's so open about it it's like she wants people to know, like it makes her "cool."

Disneyfan's picture

She might be the piece of ass the real gang members are passing. The idiot probably thinks screwing members means she down with the gang.

moving_on_again's picture

I can't stand to even be around people like that, it freaks me out.

I did meth more than a handful of times in high school. It's weird that I was able to just walk away from it. My boyfriend at the time spent over a year in rehab about 10 years ago. I always say I dodged that bullet.

DaizyDuke's picture

Can I ask, with absolutely no disrespect at all, but I have never known anyone who admits to having done meth. I'm curious, did you know anything about meth, when you did it? Like had you seen pics of people with no teeth, nasty skin, acting crazy etc.?

I've always been extremely curious as to why people do it that first time, when they know what it can and will lead to? Is it kind of like the forbidden fruit in the garden??

moving_on_again's picture

I don't mind talking about it at all. I work for Prosecuting Attorneys (in their civil office) and I told them all and one in particular asks me questions occasionally about people's behavior because he has no experience with drugs. Oddly, it's come in handy that I have experience.

All I knew about meth when I did it was that a few kids in my high school were doing it and they didn't act strange at all. We were doing such small amounts at first that we still slept at night and didn't miss school. The summer between my sophomore year and junior year was bad though. We were doing all we could get our hands on and staying up for days at a time. Then I saw some crazy stuff, mostly people being paranoid. I shot up twice. Then I broke up with that guy for someone else and I was out of that group of friends and then I got pregnant at 17. I don't tell a lot of people this but that teen pregnancy probably saved me from a not very nice life. Or maybe I would have stopped on my own. Thankfully, I hadn't used for several months when I got pregnant.

I have occasionally ran into people from the group and some of them look pretty rough. Including my ex. He ended up marrying a girl that has paranoid schizophrenia and they recently had a baby and are getting a divorce. I don't know if either of them use anymore but they both act very weird.

I really didn't know how bad the effects were when I did it. I wouldn't touch it now.

ETA - Meth makes you feel euphoric, like you can do anything or be anything - but - I have never seen one single meth user actually follow through on anything. It's so weird. And when you crash, it's almost crushing. We used to try to get pain pills so we wouldn't feel the crash but those were a lot harder to get 20 years ago. Goodness.....it's so hard to believe that was 20 years ago.

moving_on_again's picture

What are "skittles?"

I've done almost every drug except heroin. I really believe that addiction is genetic so it's amazing that I was able to walk away. My drug of choice has always been alcohol and my dad is alcoholic so I try to be very careful with it. My aunt died from a liver hemorrhage when I was 16 so she was fairly young. I am fairly certain both of my uncles are alcoholics, too, but they live states away and are able to hide it better.

moving_on_again's picture

I never did that one, never even heard of it. But we did chug Robitussin. I was such a stupid teen.

WalkOnBy's picture

I have an extensive history with drugs, too. I was the kid who had it all together, but who was using to self-medicate.

When people find out the extent and the types of drugs I used in high school and college, they are shocked...

DaizyDuke's picture

WTF lol That could so be BM1... the scrawny, nasty meth look and proverbial messy bun with her black yoga pants. she posted a pic of herself on FB the other day of her in the bathroom in a Batman mask looking all psychotic...no explanation, no comment just this ridiculous picture. Um it's not Halloween, you are not Batman, you are a meth whore with 5 kids you don't provide for or take care of. How bout you find some better use of your time like, say, get a J-O-B??

BSgoinon's picture

Granny, sadly, I think all of us involved have become numb to it. Her own mother included. She texts me often thanking me for taking care of her grandson and telling me that it feels like she is grieving the death of her daughter, that is alive and walking the earth. It is incredibly sad. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has attempted to help her.

moeilijk's picture

I'm older than you. That is relevant because I can't remember any details about something super-funny that I wish I could share here.

At some point in the past, I saw a comedian do a bit about how his grandma thought anyone who wears a baseball cap is doing drugs. It was pee-your-pant hilarious.

You will all just have to take a moment to imagine how hilarious, and timely, the linked video would be, had I been able to find it.

Maxwell09's picture

Is there any chance Stepmom told someone else about BM's white hat and called the cops on her to be searched? Stepmom might have said something to BM mentioning how she shouldn't wear the hat because of gang affiliations and BM no thinks she's being profiled because of the hat (instead of the fact she's a methhead). I've personally never heard of anything about baseball caps being gang affiliations.

BSgoinon's picture

There is always that chance, but I don't think so. She probably just saw cops in a parking lot and started talking to them. She does that. She thinks she is cute.

not your momma's picture

There's an LA gang called the Rollin' 60s. The Sox hat is one of their symbols. Who knows why? The Rollin' 60s are a spin off of the Crips.

BSgoinon's picture

I saw that online... it says they are predominately African American. BM is fairly racist. No, she IS COMPLETELY racist. I don't see that being the connection. But who knows. :?

BSgoinon's picture

Granny, you have no idea how many times I have said or thought this. She has no right to speak down to or about ANYONE on this planet. She is the lowest of low. Just shows her true ignorance. To hate someone because of the color of their skin... meanwhile she posses every voluntary trait possible that would justify someone hating her. go figure.

WalkOnBy's picture

Yup - the Rollin' 60s are quite active here in Detroit...at my previous job we prosecuted many many many gangs, most of which were big fans of the White Sox hats...

BSgoinon's picture

Interesting. I still think she is FAR too racist to associate herself with that gang.

I was playing ping pong last night with my buddy that is a detective in the gang until in South Central Los Angeles. He said that they don't really consider team gear of any kind gang attire anymore, that apparently went out in the 90's here. He said "BM is just a f*cktard that thinks the Police have no clue what she is, we know... trust me, we know".

All I had to do with another detective friend was send a screenshot of a FB post, he saw the itty bitty profile pic of BM's and said "she looks like a tweeker". Ha. I wasn't even sending it to him for the profile pic. They know... they ALLLL know what she is.
