The PASing of SGS once again didn't work

Disillusioned's picture

Further to my post about the event yesterday with DH's family, the alienation BS from DH's daughter and sister back-fired big-time yesterday

There were countless comments from DH's daughter...like supposedly scolding SGS because he didn't say hello to me, ya right, when in fact the kid had a grin from ear to ear when he first saw me

Immediately DH's daughter starts going on and on about how little SGS wants to marry DH's sister - she says this the moment we are all together - and even then I was thinking to myself ya right, you will go to any lengths to try to make me feel bad. Overplay or downright lie with little stories of how SGS just loves YSD, or DH's sister, or DH soooooooo much, but of course no mention of the kid even realizing I'm even alive

We arrive at the event and DH's daughter does the old "SGS wants to go with GRANDPA (DH)" then tells SGS "hold GRANPA'S hand" "GRANDPA will take you around" etc... etc...

I say nothing but DH finally speaks up and says "and GRANDMA DISILLUSIONED TOO" to her

Not that it had any effect

SO DH says to SGS, take Grandma's hand too...and DH's daughter says to DH's sister, just loud enough for me to hear of course "take Grandma Disillusioned's hand ya right, you know SGS is just going to be wandering around by himself"

I would have liked to turn around and say something to the effect "well ya, since you overplay everything about your blood family to him and encourage him big time to love them, but act like I don't even exist and completely downplay everything about me including all the times he asks for me, well ya, it's called ALIENATION and you know what, actually a form of child abuse so that makes you not only a crappy step-daughter but a terrible mother too"

Of course I said nothing and as the day progressed little SGS warmed up to me more and more until finally we all go out for lunch after the event.

As we're being seated and I'm about to sit beside DH, DH's daughter says "SGS wants to sit beside GRANDPA" I hadn't heard SGS mention that even once but whatever, it was all one long seat as this table was against a wall so I slid in beside DH, with SGS on the other side inbetween DH and DH's daughter

DH's sister and daughter immediately start up the old SGS going to marry to DH's sister thing...it was so obvious to me that they were trying to get rise out of me and are just too dumb to understand I could care less, especially as I know how they make up anything and everything to further their drama

Well, the lunch is ordered and everyone is talking and no one paying much attention to SGS at this point. The food arrives and I'm just about to take a bite when out of nowhere SGS is standing beside me at the end of the table and says "Grandma Disillusioned I'm going to sit with you now" apparently he had slid under the table and crawled along the floor to where I was then came up to sit with me, no one even realized he had left his seat until he not only decided he was sitting with me, but crawled up onto my lap, facing me, and started running his hands through my hair

DH turns around - I'm sure DH's daughter and sister were shocked and none too pleased - and DH laughs and says that SGS is the only person on this planet allowed to mess up Disillusioned's hair Biggrin

DH's daughter comments that SGS just LOVES long hair, he ALWAYS does this with long hair, yada yada

Then SGS starts stroking my face with his little hand - so cute! He just had a look of so much love on his face my heart just melted. Then he put his arms around me and hugged me. All of this completely unsolicited and I just sat there a little :O as SGS appeared to just want to sit there like that hugging me and not move away

DH's daughter then calls down to him to "leave Grandma Disillusioned alone" and to come back to his seat. I assured her that he was perfectly fine of course but she just repeated the same thing to SGS

The kid reluctantly gets down off my knee but then stands there and cutely says "Grandma, I'll be back"

I laughed so hard!

Then at their end of the table apparently little SGS made such a fuss about wanting to sit with me that DH's daughter had to pass his food down to my end, so at least he would eat lunch while sitting with me Dirol

As the kid comes walking back to my end, DH's sister reaches out and tries to hug him and asks him if he wants to sit with her. The child wriggles out of her grasp, marches over to me, takes my hand and starts kissing it/putting it on his chest, then kissing it :?

DH looks over and says "what is that kid doing" I answered "apparently he's kissing my hand"

After that the kid stayed with me, "styling" my hair Biggrin and refusing to go anywhere else

When DH and I left the restaurant, I couldn't help but smile about that!

Yup fightincrazytrain...someone said earlier on this forum that SGS must be an old soul, I really believe this child is an old soul. So smart, so sweet, and always ends up making his mother (DH's daughter) look like the ass she's behaving to me when he ends up gravitating to me in the end after all her nonsense Smile

Aww... this might be so true! You must have a magnetic personality, Dis - look how attached to you this kid is. Good for him! You may be making a contribution to his emotional development that will outweigh the lessons his mother is teaching him. That's your sentimental education...

My favorite quote from an unlikely source, Alexandre Dumas, goes something like this:

“How is it that little children are so intelligent and grown men so stupid?
It must be education that does it.”

Smile

In your case, it is more like indoctrination. This kid is yet blissfully un-educated, un-indoctrinated, and thus very smart. He senses who loves him... Keep up your gravitational pull!

That reminds me of the "It is not a slight thing, when they who are so fresh from God, love us"
Dickens??

I probably butchered the quote but yall probably know the gist.

So beautiful!! Just keep showing him who you are and his mom will keep showing him who she is. He sounds like a smart little cookie!

So far so good but it ain't over yet. I'm saying in time the kid will be turned so don't get attached.

Yes Orange County Ca...I know DH's daughter will probably crank up her alienation tactics after this one Sad I keep reminding myself to be emotionally prepared for the day she influences this child for real Sad
