My DS19 is with his dad for a while (we are allowing him to switch households but only in huge chunks of weeks at a time). He called yesterday and during part of the call he mentioned that he hadn't seen a new girl he liked in two weeks. Turns out the day after he saw her two weeks ago she got together with about ten friends, twice. When she told DS about it he said he made some comments about it being inappropriate and unsafe and she asked if he really thought she was being stupid. And he told me he said yes. He's refused to see her until later this week when it's been long enough and with a promise from her that she hasn't done that again in the two weeks.

He also does the social distancing thing with her (outside, at least six feet apart, nothing else). It was interesting to hear a 19yo go off on the irresponsibility of his peers (then again he does that regularly so I guess I shouldn't be surprised).

I do ponder two things now: should I tell him he has to stay at his dads because I have no trust that this girl is following the social distancing rules, and why isn't he with the girl who's one of his best friends, who he talks to for extended periods of time, and who is responsible and following the rules (seriously, all the parents see how great they are together)?
