Is it okay for step or half siblings to not be engaged?

zerostepdrama's picture

It's not frowned upon when us SPs disengage and take a step back. It's okay for us to "worry about ourselves" and "look after ourselves".

So is it okay if step siblings and half siblings are also disengaged?

Should siblings be forced to engage with each other and like each other?

Is it different if they are step siblings as opposed to half siblings (Sharing one parent?)

For kids that see each other 50% or less does that make a difference? What about a large age gap?

I am disengaged from my brother. I tolerate his presence when we have to be together, but I take no interest in him other than being polite.

My kids don't really engage with the skids, despite Thing1 and Thing2 living with them for two years. I am cool with it.

DD25 never lived with them, and each time she tries to engage the skids, she is met with blank stares. She's about done with trying to engage Smile

No half siblings in our house but the two steps does not engage at all...

Deigma can't stand Aergia, she tries her best to hang with him and his friends but he simply tells her to get lost,
First it upset SO, now he just ignores it if Aergia comes crying and tells her to find her own friends
