Another OT.

Along the same lines as my last post...a lot of people think that America is going to hell in a hand basket.

Do you think so? If you do...what do you think is going to happen and are you preparing for something to happen?

I think we have a great deal of demagogues in Washington, just pandering their own agenda without reguard to what it does to the middle class. A strong middle class is essential to democracy in any form. Both side are corrupt.

Yea..banks are actually starting to scare me.

If we have an economic collapse, I don't think actual money will be worth much.

Oh I don't know. When Obama was running for president, people said if he was elected our country was ruined and Armageddon was going to come.

Obama was elected president and Armageddon didn't come.

He was elected again and the world didn't collapse, the sun didn't turn into blood and the sky didn't rain fire and sulfur.

My point is, all these people are saying America is ruined if this or that happens. Nothing much happens, sure our credit rating was down graded last time republicans refused to increase the debt ceiling, but I haven't noticed much difference in my day to day life.

Every time something some one doesn't agree with happens they're quick to say America is going to hell. But nothing really happens.

So my answer is no, I don't think America is going to hell. I'm not expecting anything to happen any different than what's been happening the past seven years, a whole bunch of nothing.

I do believe we're on a quick road to ugly things. I wish I could want to prepare, but if it all goes south & food is gone & it comes down to pillaging & living off the land, I think I'd really prefer just to jump into gunfire.

LOL! Well..I am prepared. We harvest rain water. I have a garden and want to learn to can. (I do however, suck at the garden thing for some reason).

We do have a garden, but can't keep the deer out of it. We have fruit trees they hoard from. We have grapevines we lose to Japanese beetles every.freaking.year.

My mom & dad can everything. They're practicing Mormons, so they have plenty of food storage. I'm banking on DH & I picking up & going & staying with them when the wrath of the end comes & hoping no one else has the same idea. LOL!

I am not sure what is going to happen either. But I do know that when we got hit by hurricane Ike, we were without power, food, water, ECT for over 2 weeks. It made me realize just how much we depend on other people and I know I don't want to be in that situation again. And I never will.

I made changes due to Ike, but those changes will help me and my family if there ever is a big issue in the US.

I think this is true for the entire Western world. Some of the stories I see, hear and read about people carelessly having sex and bringing kids into crappy situations, having anger/resentment at kids for things they have no control over (ie. CS, their parents. etc.) glorifying and condoning adultery, and so many other stories make me think that despite all our advancements, we're still in a moral decline.

To me, a huge sign of this moral decline is that kids often can't be kids anymore. They're being dragged into adult issues, given too much power, and running the show while they're not ready to do so. And then they're being blamed for being angry when it's really the parents who put them in that position. I think more people need to parent their kids correctly from the start, instead of a) not parenting them for years and then starting to at a later time and b) not parenting them at all.

Our adoration as a whole of celebrities doesn't help. Why people look up to Snooki, Kim K, Kanye West, Chris Brown, etc. is beyond me. What have these people done that warrants such admiration?

I do feel this is the welfare generation. The government is making it too easy for people to rely on them. Parents start it out by being terrible parent and then the government takes over and pays them to sit at home on their ass all day and not do anything productive.

One of our representives/senator's pages said they would not be taking or responding to phone calls or emails due to the shutdown. Complete bs. My Husband is an "essential"federal employee so currently working for free. So annoying.
