1) My cupcake-I will every now and then buy fancy cupcakes from a bakery. If someone touches the snickerdoodle cupcake heads will roll.

2) My Fancy shampoo & conditioner-Sorry SD15 if you can't pay for silky hair for the price of $15 a bottle you are stuck using Dove.

3) Hood Egg Nog-the last glass. How do they get it so smooth?

4) The last of the cookies that I made. Sure they came out of a bag of mix but I did take the initiative to turn the oven on and wait like a kid on Christmas for them to be done.

Most of these relate to FDH offering up the use of my stuff to SD - something he is working on. He's improved, but, still has a way to go. And SD has to ask before she can use anything that doesn't belong to her in the house that isn't community property, but, these are the big ones.

1. Hair products (I'm with HappyCow on this one). SD and I both have curly hair, but, SD can't be bothered to learn how to take care of her hair, so, why should she use my expensive hair products? I share them with FDH and that's it. She can get the cheapo products from Target or bring whatever GUBM has bought for her, especially since the last time I shared hair products with her, she took them home with her -_-

2. Clothes and shoes. Just because we happen to wear similar sized clothing and shoes does not mean that her wardrobe is magically increased when she comes to our house. I don't care if I don't regularly wear most of my stuff that she would like anymore because I work in an office and have a dress code to follow. They don't belong to anyone but me and, even if she were to ask, the answer would still be no. The only time she can use any of them is if I'm doing a clothing/shoe purge and I offer the items to her. Then they're hers to keep.

3. Desk. I don't care if my cat is on my desk, or if he is knocking things around, that's no excuse to touch my desk or the things on there. Respect my things the way I respect your things.

4. The door to our bedroom unless she is invited to go/come inside. This has proven to be a challenge for SD still for some reason. She just wanders in and out of it as she pleases, especially if she sees my cat in there - and no, not her cat, MY cat. Because my cat is awesome and snuggly, unlike her cat who is skittish and hates the world because SD was five when they got her and she tortured the poor thing relentlessly for years.

I had to laugh at the "don't touch my plate" comments. Funny story....

When my family goes out to eat, we will usually get a taste of food off of someones plate if they have different food. (Just family!)

So the first time we all went and took DH, the waiter put everyones plate down and we all stared to see if we wanted to taste anyone elses food before we started on our own food.......I looked over and noticed that DH (then just a BF) was slowly wrapping his forearms around his plate. He was guarding his plate!! LMBO!!

I started laughing and he was just wide eyed at what he considered to be an awful offense!! lol. He said that he was raised in a house with 7 children and two adults. You had to almost fight for food. I assured him that we would not take his food.

He has loosened up a bit and actually joins in now. lol

We have a trunk full of throw blankets in our living room. SD managed to pull each and every last one of them out of the trunk during her last visit - she'd use one, then, the next day, grab another to use, without putting any of them back (I made her put them away before she left because there were throws all over the damn house).

But, when she got to the one I purchased at the bookstore of my undergrad alma mater, I walked over to her, stuck my hand out and said "Nope, that one is exclusively mine. Use one of the many other blankets you have already strewn across the house."

#1 is why I leave my ID badge in my car. I know that if it were laying around the house SD's idle hands would start playing with it, and probably lose it on me.

Ugh anything that isn't a toy... for example, my kids/skids have so many freaking toys, yet they will "play" with things like exercise equipment (exercise ball, weights etc.), tools, office supplies, first aid supplies THEY ARE NOT TOYS THEY HAVE A PURPOSE AND WHEN I NEED THEM AND CANT FIND THEM IT DRIVES ME INSANE!

-phone
-laptop
-hair straightener
-personal products (make up, razor, hair brush)

UGH!

Drac0's picture

LOL! Do you have my kids? Because this is exactly my problem!

If given the choice between:
A) A teddy bear
Dirol A sippy cup filled with your favorite juice
C) A toy race car
D) A sharp knife up on the counter and barely out of reach

Which would you choose? If you're my kids, the answer is D! How else will you be able to pry open the safety catch on pantry to get at the bleach and the match sticks?

askYOURdad's picture

OT but I actually saw a thing on pinterest where this dad for Christmas made his son (maybe age 1-2) the most creative present... it was a big board painted black and yellow stripes (kind of like caution tape) and it had on it all kinds of random home depot stuff, a light switch, a chain lock, a combination lock etc. etc. etc. as soon as I saw it I was like yeahhhhh that would have come in handy when bios were babies lol!

Stupidlyoptimistic's picture

I saw this, too, I think. Was it the one that had several different types of locks on it? At first I thought it would be great for kids. Then I thought about it and decided that it would probably just teach them how to pick locks at 3 and 6 yrs old. Lol

askYOURdad's picture

Haha that's what I thought... also that it was kind of encouraging kids to touch things they shouldn't. I use to live in constant fear that my kids would like wander out of the house when I was sleeping, definitely not teaching them how to work a dead bolt!

Drac0's picture

Yeah, I know the feeling. My bios are 2 and 4 and they already know how to open the child barrier I installed at the top of the stairs. "Childproof" doesn't mean anything in my home.

I swear my kids are reincarnations of "Scrounger" and the "The Cooler King" from The Great Escape.

My BS16 touches everything. It is so damn annoying I have given up on fighting about it. These are the things he takes on a daily basis.

My hairbrush.
My Vaseline.
My shampoo & conditioner.
My lotion.
My socks.
My toothpaste.

But what I would absolutely rip his face off over is my Origins Ginger Burst body bath. It is EXPENSIVE and he LOVES it, so I have had to hide it because he uses it as if it was Suave body wash for .99! He says it smells like the ocean. Freaking metro-sexual teenage brat!

Unfreakingreal's picture

LOL, you know I never thought of that! I use it for the bottom of my feet because they are super dry. Darn, I may have to buy a new jar and hide it with my Origins!

Harleygurl's picture

I've got to add something! Blum 3

DON'T TOUCH MY IPHONE OR IPAD!!! My SS7 constantly wants to play on my phone/ipad because BM lets him do play games on her phone. NOT HAPPENING IN MY HOUSE! Those things cost a frigging fortune and I'm not letting a child touch them!! Get your own toys!

Stupidlyoptimistic's picture

The rule in our house is "If it's not yours, don't touch it!" Skids seem to think that anything and everything is up for grabs. No matter where they are in the house, if they find something they think is cool, they hide it in their rooms. They are starting to learn not to lay a hand on my things, though. Pick up something of mine without asking, and you might lose an arm. Wink
