DH and I rent a house, but we'll be moving mid January to a different house. My mother, who's been having some health problems, has decided to sell her house where she lives (200 miles southeast of where DH and I live) and buy a house up here. DH, my DD and I will be moving into the new house she bought Thursday.

Well, she signed a contract for it. Home inspection is Monday afternoon, and closing is mid January. Hopefully her other house will sell quickly (if it's priced right it will...the fact that it's only 3 miles from a major military installation, and it's only a 5 year old home with lots of upgrades!)...she owns it outright, so the profits from that place will go towards the home loan on the new place. The amount of $$ that DH and I pay for rent will go towards part of her mortgage and utilities.

She's tired of living alone. My father passed away over 6 years ago. I moved from the area after my divorce in 09/2007. My brother and sister who live in the next town, less than 10 miles away, don't want anything to do with her unless it's convenient for THEM. She gets along so well with my DH, and enjoys being around him, me, my daughter and my SS7. She absolutely LOVES that lil' guy and just eats it up when he comes here every other weekend!

We'll be sharing a 5 bedroom, 3 bath home. Mom gets the master because it's HER house

The house is almost 3000 sqft. The original owners are still in the house (built 1998) It has a lot of conveniences and in the back yard there is a pool!! Oh, and a doggy door that leads to the back yard, so our dogs will absolutely LOVE going out at their leisure.

So I'm excited about moving into a nicer home. The new place is large enough that her things AND our things should all fit! Okay, so some might go into the garage until DD decides to move out on her own (a lot of the things in my garage are for her when she DOES move out)....IF she moves out....

The BEST part is that DH's commute to pick up/drop off his son is cut in half!!
