Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I hear you!
It is a documented problem:

It happened to me, too (partly because my DH is an amazing cook and he does all the cooking in our family). I also gained about 10 lb. However, I have managed to lose almost all of it this summer!
I have an iPhone. If any of you has one, too, there's an AWESOME free app called LoseIt! You tell it info about you (how old you are, how much you weigh) and your weight goal, and it tells you how many calories you can eat per day to reach your goal in x weeks. And then you plug in your food and exercise for the day -- and the app has serving and calorie info built in.
Seriously, it was just the motivation I needed! Plus, it has cool graphs showing you how much you have eaten and how much you can still eat per day. And because I could see how many calories I burned during exercise, it totally motivated me to go out and be more active. It's awesome!

I gained 160 lbs of fat when I got married
it's name is BM!
Can't be when you say I Do...
because I've packed on 10 lbs in the past 6 months and I haven't said I Do yet. lol
Going to Bikram Yoga tonight. Have been doing it once a week for a few weeks now. I hate it while I'm doing it, but love it when it's over...I feel so calm and tranquil. It's been good for me and my *moods*.
Also, just started watching my calories again. I have a 20 year reunion coming up in October...gotta look hot!
another newlywed
Been married almost five months now and I have officially gained 11 lbs since the wedding. I switched to a sit down job about 1 1/2 ago and since then I have gained another ten lbs. I walked 2 miles today and I am hoping to keep up walking a few miles a week. Good luck with the weight loss.
Not sure it's of topic
I gained 10 lbs and I swear it is because I've had to deal with all the stress of BM and skids. Really, my life was so peaceful before.

Holding
However not exercising as much!!!
I never had much of a bust but at 49 as my dear departed Dolly Parton mother warned me of genetics--
I feel fat with "the girls" I am not used to "supporting"
5'1- 125 pounds -y'all know where the fat is....

They should put a warning
I've gained about 20 since the wedding. On my way to working it off and then some.
Try using a food journal to keep track of what you eat. It will surprise you. www.Fitday.com is a free online one that also tracks your activities. I'm down almost 4 pounds in a week and a half by eating less/better, moving my lazy butt and drinking lots of water.
trying
to work off the weight I have gained since the wedding. Today was a healthy lunch and almost another two mile walk.
