O/T Cute thing overheard at a store (and why I wish my kid was still little)

Redredwine's picture

I waiting in line at a store and in front of a woman and her 4/5 year old son. They were right near the sunglasses and he was trying them on. She must have explained how some of them work differently than others (and have a weird distortion with inside light).

He tried on another pair and told her excitedly: "Mom, these ones are paralyzed, too!"
Mom quietly responded: "The word is 'polarized,' honey."

BS is 5 and I freaking love this age.... these are some of the recent things he has said

I explained to him one night about Logos and Symbols when he asked what one on a business card was. So like two days later, he told me he wanted a coffee. I said OK which Kcup flavor do you want? He said "the one with the donut laptap" I'm like laptap??? wth is he talking about???? then I realized he meant "logo"

We have a walking/running/biking trail called the Catherine Valley Trail that we walk on a lot. BS5 calls it the "Cappy Berry Trail"

BS5 was singing the Incy Wincy Spider song one day but was saying "The Rinsey, Rinsey Spider"

I asked him this morning what he did in Art yesterday and he said they worked on their "Pecans" I was like huh? Nuts? So when I dropped him off at school, his art teacher was hanging up some pictures in the hall and came over to tell me how BS5 did an awesome job on his "Peacock" yesterday. Ohhhhh Peacock!

There are a ton more, but I forget. The thing is, he gets REALLY irritated if you don't know what he's talking about because HE knows what he is talking about lol

Ha! This reminds me of a story....

When SD16 was about 8, her teacher emailed SO with concern regarding a sentence that SD had written that day.
They had to write a sentence with the word "mind" in it.
She wrote "At least I'm safe in my mind."

The teacher emailed SO with her concerns, "is everything OK at home? etc etc" He laughed and laughed and laughed and replied, "I appreciate your concern, I'm so glad that SD's teacher cares about her so much! That being said....her quote is from Sponge Bob. The cartoon."

When SS was about 4 years old I was cooking the kids lunch. He asked what I was cooking and I said "grilled cheese sandwiches". SS got really upset and said "well what I am gonna eat?" SS you love grilled cheese sandwiches, what do you mean. He responds "I can't eat a girl cheese sandwich, I am a BOY!".

SDthen14 was asking SO if he would buy the latest version of Call of Duty for her to play on the Xbox. SDthen10 starting laughing and laughing....belly-gut laughing. We all looked at her with confusion. Finally she manages to sputter out.....
"Why would anyone want to play Call of DOODY??????"
