BM says her New Year's Resolution is to "Give Up"

Last-Wife's picture

She called this morning to say she was giving up. She says if the kids don't want to come see her anymore, then she is done. She doesn't want to fight with them any more.

Only SS14 went for the court appointed time with her. She was okay with it and understood SS15 had basketball practices and a tournament and SD17 had to work.

At one point, we had even tried to reschedule our holiday so she could see them on our time instead. She appreciated the offer, but had other plans.

So she called this morning to say she'd had enough. She;s been saying this for weeks, and that's why I've been mad at her. What gives her the right to give up on her own kids?! I'm the one dealing with their issues on a daily basis- issues they wouldn't have if it weren't for her genetics. I can't just give up and walk out. (As appealing as that does seem right now...)

She brought home SS14 and didn't even come into see the other 2 kids liked she'd told us she would. In fact, she called SS17 and cussed her out for no reason, and SS17 was confused and upset. She'd been called in to work, but told them no since her mother was coming...

I told DH if she wanted to quit, he'd have to take her back to court and get support, since she doesn't pay anything except transportation to get them to her house... And he's all like, I don't want to talk about it...

Well, I want to be done to. I'm tired. I'm broke. I have no energy for things I want anymore. Can't I give up to?

I really don't have much advice for you tired-stepmom. Being a stepmom also, I too stay tired of the continus battles. We have daily "verbal fights" with BM over SSs. She only gets supervised visits and the boys have givien up on her. However, when it comes to visits, she forces all issues but when it comes to her having and keeping health insurance and paying her half of all medical bills she can no longer talk to us and will not respond to phone calls, text messages, certified letters, and e-mails. I only wish that we were in the same situation as you where BM decides to simply give up.
With that being said I do agree that no real Mother has a right to give up on her children. The only thing that I can offer you is prayer.

I understand your side of it, but I wish SS's BM would give up..
