Jodi Arias Vs. BM. Vs SD. Oh No.

I just realized this morning that DH and I might have HUGE problem on our hands, and I honestly don't know if I'm willing or able to handle it.

BM was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. I've known this and so has DH. DH lived it for quite some time with BM. DH has compared Jodi Arias(BF killer) to BM. DH says that Jodi Arias acts exactly like BM and they both share the same traits. DH even said that Jodi Arias spoke just like BM speaks. DH couldn't handle me watching the trial and I had to change the channel. Anyway..

I read somewhere on ABC news that Jodi Arias is also Borderline. And it just hit me this morning...SD11 shares the same actions/emotions/traits as someone who has BPD. I did a lot of reading this afternoon about symptoms in children/adolescents and SD11 has a lot of the symptoms. And it can be genetic. This is not good in any way for our family. Especially for DD7 and DS4 who wouldn't be able to understand (if i'm right) about this disorder. There is no "cure" and treatment is not always helpful. Meds can be given, but not helpful. Psychotherapy is usually used, but it usually doesn't help. This is a lifelong problem. DH and I will be talking to the therapist tomorrow evening and I am going to bring it up, after I talk to DH tonight.

If she does have BPD either severe or moderate, it would explain a lot. I hope I am wrong.

Bless you! I never could work with children. Spent four years with substance abuse clients and 2 years with abused/sexually assualted women before going into higher education. I have two years left to reach my 25, then I am heading into working with PTSD in veterans.

This is true- And I am NOT. I love MY kids, but working with kids is just not my thing. You have a special gift.

All the things I read said that it couldn't be officially diagnosed as you say. But, I am seeing so many traits in SD11. Honestly, she hasn't ever seemed "quite right" since I met her when she was 3 years old. The traits I am seeing are the same her mother has, minus the violent behavior. I am so worried, but will know for sure(hopefully get some insight) when we talk with her therapist.

Kudos to you & dh for getting sd the help she needs now. This can really spare everyone involved many headaches in the long run, and help prevent her from becoming the next Jodi Arias. If this therapist isn't working, it's likely time for a new one.

I don't have bpd but having Aspergers Syndrome has taught me that being on the right meds, taking them and getting therapy is absolutely crucial in helping to deal with it. Hopefully, with help at home and therapy, she'll develop the skills necessary to take her meds when she's supposed to. Hopefully, therapy can and will help her and your family. Hopefully it'll help improve her life.
