Spring Break with SS

Everything went really well! He acted like nothing ever happened-- like many of you predicted.

I did sit him down a few minutes after we got home from the airport and explained that since he lied in court, I installed security cameras that were recording at all times throughout the house. I told them that they have sound as well. If he was going to make another child abuse claim against me, because saying that I scream and throw things at my children is child abuse, he better have a day and time or we will sit and watch 7 days worth of recordings in court. I asked if he understood, he nodded. I said "Great! Lets have a wonderful week!" and then got up and left the table.

DH did not take his phone. I didn't care either way. BM was not a presence in our house. If he called her it was after we went to bed. He did text and snap chat with his girlfriend incessantly, but that is to be expected from a 15 yr old.

Things overall went really well, even if we were stuck at home due to the pandemic.

Your DH and you have tried so hard for this meeting.  I'm glad it went well.

Heres hoping moving forward things continue to go well!

Congrats - I knew he'd be like my SS was. Now-expect the nonsense to resume once he's back with BM. But I'm glad you guys found a court that's on your side.  Let's hope it scared her enough that she will comply with the rest of the order as well.

SS told the courts that DH and I are raging drunks and drink and drive and make him drive us home from bars.

None of that was founded. Neither of us have a DUI. We both have careers that we wouldn't have if we were drunks. So the GAL had it put in the CO that we were not allowed to consume any alcohol around SS. We got rid (hid) anything that we had in the house so that there couldn't be a picture or anything of booze. It just killed the opportunity for him to lie about it.

I'm so glad the visit went well! And love the way you matter of factly explained the home surveillance to SS. "Because of that, we now have this." Cause and effect, baby. You handled that like a boss, and being straighforward is a nice counterpoint to BM's war of alienation.

Thanks! I am not one for games. I am too old and tired for that crap.

If he's anything like my SS, he doesn't feel bad about the lying because he felt it was just something he had to do.

Your SS's GAL insisted no Alcohol in presences of SS without facts to support to be added to court order.??? Shocking the Judge agreed to that.  GAL's can ask for anything they want...doesn't mean they will get it.

Wow, that is not good JMTB. (sooooo sorry)

Your GAL over-stepped.

Its like taking a plea when your not guilty of any wrongdoing.

Our one response was if no alcohol is to be consumed around SS, that should be for both houses. The judge said that SS was fine with his mom drinking that she could continue.

It was BS. However, in the end, the judge did tell BM that if she didn't put him on a plane from now until he is 18 yrs old she would spend 30 days in jail. So, to us, that is the bigger win. Alcohol isn't our life. Like I have said before, DH and I will drink- not to excess. We do enjoy breweries, we will have something with dinner most nights. However, we are fine without.

I am speechless jmtb

A Judge ordered you and dh to not have cocktails. But since SS is ok with his mom drinking the Judge gave BM the nod. LOL

Just when I think I heard it all.

Sad

I think it was a test from the judge. If we blew up at the alcohol then the alcohol abuse must be true and therfore more important than visitation with SS.

All we did was shrug and roll with it. I think the judge liked that considering that the next words were about BM and jail time.
