DH...you continue to amaze me!! :)

So OSS has this habit of always, and I mean always, blaming someone else for whatever he does. It literally is NEVER his fault for anything. And it annoys the shit out of me. It's about everything. You tell him to pick up something, he doesn't, you say "pick it up" his response "well so and so was in my way so I couldn't get over there" Yes, it's that bad.

So OSS is supposed to put his bike away. He drops it on the ground and walks away. DH says "OSS put your bike where it is supposed to go" OSS replies "uh well I was going to, but YSS was right there and...." DH cuts him off and says "OSS, stop. Just stop. YSS standing two feet from you has nothing to do with you not putting your bike away. Stop coming up with an excuse for everything and blaming other people for everything. All you have to do is say 'Okay.' and do it. This goes for every time hanging or I tell you something or ask why you did something. It's not always everybody else's fault, and I've had enough"

My jaw dropped. I couldn't believe DH said this to OSS!! I couldn't believe that he finally addressed it. I hadn't said anything to him in awhile because DH would always go along with the excuse and I just had had enough. I had pointed it out before, and there were times when in discussions regarding discipline that I would say that the boy needs to take responsibility for his actions and not constantly blame someone else.

And lo and behold...DH you did it!! You point blank told him it's enough. Now I'm sure he will need to be reminded again, and I sure am hoping that DH continues to hold OSS to it like he did

It isn't even that he's making excuses. He's talking back and that should be stopped. -OSS pick up your bike. -Yes, sir/ma'am or Okay or *picks up his bike*. There are times for discussion and times for doing what you are told without discussion. When a parent tells you to do something, just do it.

Oh and good for your DH. Mine doesn't put up with this crap ever.
