Dreading going home

BettyRay's picture

I’ve been at work all day and am dreading going home because the skids are there. It’s the second weekend in a row they are with us due to BM’s work schedule.

All I want to do when I get home is sit my butt down in front of the TV, have a beer, and snuggle with DH, BUT that won’t happen because god forbid the skids have to give up the TV and sofa.

Oh and SS10 has been getting on my last nerve lately. He’s consistently tired and crabby, just a PITA. If we don’t do what he wants to do he pouts it’s so annoying.

SS10 also has a cold and has been wiping his nose on the sofa toss pillows and remote controls – it’s so gross. I’ve corrected him a dozen times and get the stink eye from him in return. Last night I told him if he wanted to use a pillow as a Kleenex he should use his bed pillow. Again if looks could kill I’d be dead. DH backs me up on this but no one seems to get through to him. Entitled little turd. Thanks BM and DH for creating a monster.

Well if a puppy/dog is misbehaving you can squirt it with a water gun or clean squeeze bottle... just saying......

I feel for you. I have gotten the stink eye, and my DH's kids are adults. They are quite good at it. Sounds like your SS is on the same path. They get worse by the minute. If I had to live with them....no, I could never live with them.

I got the stink eye and a screech followed by a huge pout when I told SOs youngest who was 8 at the time to quit picking his nose and use a tissue! We were all in the livingroom. SOs kids have a habit of sticking a finger up their nose when they watch TV... I corrected them enough-in front of anyone else there if someone was there-in order to get my point across. Now I haven't caught them picking their nose in our house for at least a year!!! Been awesome!!! Also haven't seen snot hidden anywhere!! Another bonus! Although I have also completely disengaged.... so maybe I am just not around when they do it now?

Good luck!!

I would remove all the cushions from the sofa and put a washable throw on it. Or even better, ban SS from sitting on the sofa until he can behave properly. Allot him a chair to sit on (the more uncomfortable the better) until he can blow his nose on a tissue like a civilised person. Seriously - this is foul. I am surprised DH doesn't send him to his room for doing this - what's the matter with him?
Does he enjoy relaxing in surroundings that are covered with snot?

I know exactly how you feel. i've just finished a 9 hour shift and i'm putting off going home because the skids are there. They're leaving tonight but all that means is that I get back just in time for the stressful task of feeding them and trying to cram them into clothes from "mummy's" in time to get them back to her at the alloted time (and boy will she bitch if they're a minute late!).
Dreadful. I can almost hear the whining now.
I wonder how long I can stay at work before I just start looking like a weirdo with nowhere to go!

I love oneoffour's suggestion RE: the water gun. That'll do the trick!

Also, make DH wash the cushions etc when the skids have left. His kid's snot = his problem.
