I hate weddings. I mean I really hate them I never dreamed of them as a little girl never really gave much thought to them. I have been to several and managed to always not really be in the wedding party. I am grateful for. I am just not into any of it.

SO wanted a wedding, so I agreed after some serious like dragging feet. I am happy to get married (at a courthouse). Nope doing this thing and some how I got stuck planning all of it and dealing with it all though it is the last thing that I ever wanted. Stupid decorations, stupid music, stupid food, stupid dessert, stupid dress, all stupid stupid stupid.

Of course my SO and I both have a lot of family and of course so many are from out of town. My family is doing and like house instead of hotel. I asked like two months ago how many rooms to block no one really said anything and I blocked off so many. Now everyone is all about it and not enough rooms and blah blah blah blah. I really hate this stuff and I mean hate.

Everyone asks me if I am excited and all I have anxiety about everything because the idea of everyone kissing me on the check and hugging me and talking to me, causing me to get sick to my stomach and my whole body to tense up. I am pissed at my MIL cause i told her no more extra rooms and now she wants to talk. Talk about what there is nothing to talk about. I am sure she wants to talk about how to get to the venue from the hotel and back because let's face it as you can tell from past post his whole family is a ton of freaking drunks.

I want to cancel the entire thing and go to the courthouse.

Well, do exactly that.  A planned wedding isn't your thing, I'm with you in how I feel about it all.  We're eloping.

I just wanted the courthouse. That is all I wanted but now the stupid thing is in 88 days and already have a deposit down. I still want to bail so bad. I hate attending weddings let alone being the main attraction.

I should have just dragged my feet on everything in hopes he would have just gone to the courthouse. Now people wont leave me alone about it. I am even having a bridal shower. So not my thing. My bridesmaids wanted to plan it. I also did not want a wedding party but my SO said he was still going to have a groomsman and best man. I got stuck. Don't get me wrong I love the girls that are my bridesmaids. My best friend I have known since 16 and my two cousins who I am close with. They are a great group.

Destination Wedding!

It is sooooo much easier. You pick a spot on a beach in Mexico at an All Inclusive and voila, suddenly no one can afford the $1000 - $1500 per person it will cost to attend the wedding. It's you, your guy and the few family members who felt they HAD to be there. Anyone else is a bonus and if you actually get enough people to attend your week is paid for!                                    (DHs cousin had people back out of her destination wedding when they found out that they were helping to pay for her pkg, LOL.)

You can even pay for those who you really, really want there like a best friend who can't afford it because you're not paying $20K, $30K, $50K to host a party you don't want or need.

Then when it's all said and done, everyone leaves. You and DH stay an extra week and honeymoon! Perfect!

Ash, are the deposits non-refundable? If so, just STOP doing anything else.

Not enough rooms? Lack of response is not your problem.

Decorations? Waste of time and money. You have too much on your plate.

Let it go, hon. Salvage what you can, tell SO you're doing X,Y,Z, and that's IT.

Your wedding should be a time of joy, not stress. {{{hugs}}}

Why don't you get married at the courthouse and just have a big party to celebrate the marriage? That way you won't lose your deposit. Maybe you could stand to do a couple of the traditional things like cutting the cake?

If you decide to do the wedding, stop doing all the planning. DH wants the wedding, he can handle the details.
