OT - Eclipse

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Who has plans to watch the eclipse today? The next one, in 2024, will be in the opposite direction, making an 'X' across the U.S.

I'm just going to watch it on TV. Everywhere around here is sold out of eclipse glasses. Where we are, will be about 80% totality.

We have 86% totality. I'll go outside and hope someone has some glasses they will let me use real quick and that I am can SOMETHING. I'm excited to hear about everyone's experiences.

i'll see some of it, whatever i can peek at. all stores are sold of glasses as well. we'll be at almost totality, 98-99%, and the weather is clear as a bell!

Wish I was, beautiful day out and we are getting 70-75%. Buuut I can't take the toddler out in it. I will be watching the NASA live stream though.

I'm going to try and enjoy it from home. Try - because I have two toddlers to wrangle and keep inside.

The city I live in is about 40 miles away from the path of totality, so a lot of people have flocked to that area today. We're at 99% in the city, though.

I watched it, we only got to 69% here and a person shared their glasses so we could look at it. It was neat to see and it wasn't as boiling hot outside which made it pleasant

That was cool - there were people everywhere, it got to twilight looking light, weird shadows, chilly. And using proper shades, amazing to watch! 91% totality here! Office emptied out.

My daughter lives in Oregon and is in the 100% totality path. All she's can say is every nut is in the Bend Oregon area right now and they are a pain in the butt. Highway 97 was a total gridlock around the Bend area.

It stopped raining and cleared up here, so everybody in my office, except me, went outside to see it.

I took pictures of partial eclipse today. One picture is very clear. But I took over a hundred and most of them weren't clear, they are pretty but eclipse isn't clearly visible. Amazing though. I've been sending that picture to people in my area and no one else was lucky to get such clear picture! No I didn't block highways, I was in my own yard. Ha I am a total nerd. I have pictures of lunar eclipse of 2014. Bright red moon. Eerie. I was the only person outside at 6am.

I don't know why people are so cynical that they aren't amazed with nature. Last time we had total eclipse was 1918!!! How is that not amazing?
