We've been married for 5 years today. I am the one who pushed for us to make it official because...Tax breaks for me. I do love him. But I didn't need the Official Marriage Designation...Until I realized I was paying for and supporting all and needed the ability to claim it on my taxes..so we got married right before the end of the year. Sounds so...cold...but it wasn't.

This is what he posted today on facebook.

"Now it's been 5 years and every year adds colorful history to our time together. Ups and downs, twist and turns, events abound. Never a dull moment and never faced alone. She's been the best step parent I could hope for and never gives herself enough credit for it. She puts up with two autistics in the house; one a teen and the other an "adult" with MS. I appreciate her more than my words can convey and I know I'm not easy to deal with at times either. Looking forward to loving Pecan for another year."

I do love my little family.

Okay. ENOUGH MUSHY>>>>> How about them (((((insert favorite sports team here))))))?

I WISH I could get domestic partners insurance here in New York. I think this was a unexpected disadvantage to the gay marriage issue. Now the companies say "hey you can get married, so you don't need insurance under domestic partnership."

But in some cases, it is not wise to marry, especially when there is a previously enjoyed family in play and still under CS obligations.
