A Christmas Laugh

tigerlily74's picture

Thought I'd post this to make you guys laugh.

Last Christmas, DH's sister took pains to return the candle we gifted her - her way of showing that she disapproved of me and our then-upcoming marriage.

This year, I bought her a beautiful pair of Christmas tree ornaments, knowing that she'll probably return them again - and they'd fit perfectly with MY ornaments!

How's that for turning a slight into a personal gain. LOL

Maybe I should give her a death stare when DH passes her the present, thus ensuring our gift is returned! }:)

Well done for taking the high road and not letting her scare you off. Chances are she'll keep them for spite.

I had a false friend once who regifted my prezzie back to me two years after I gave it to her. I know folks can be cheap but I guess because I don't receive a lot of gifts, I usually remember who gives me what! And if I don't like the thing, at least I give it to a charity shop.

That was the best thing about my divorce...being able to leave behind all the fugly stuff my outlaws gave us over the years. I know they meant well, but it was like they felt the right to furnish our home with their knick knacks. My SILs both hated me from day one and constantly gave us the most horrendous stuff at Christmas.

I usually gift food items these days.

Okay. Giving fugly gifts is just not in my nature. Firstly, I'm not going to let anyone say I've got bad taste. Secondly, it's such a waste spending money on ugly stuff!

Food items are a good choice! Filing that idea away in my head Smile

Wahahaha, that's brilliant!

I think my name on the gift tag is enough to set her off. Petty creature that she is.

DH's family has a huge Christmas Eve party. I think it's bad form to show up empty-handed. I don't see his family giving him any presents though. Oh well!

Except that his family doesn't drink. Actually, that's brilliant. I'll bring two bottles of wine... and open them for my own guzzling purposes! WIN. }:)
