Adulting Skills BM Lacks??

Stepmom09's picture

What is the biggest Adult life skill the BM lacks?

I'll go first BM cannot address a letter correctly. She used to put who it is to in the top left and her information on the bottom left (letters never got to us so she handed them over with them addressed wrong stamp and all) Not she switched them. But she still puts it in the bottom right not the middle like most people.

Up until 2 years ago she did not have a check book at all.

And she still hasn't figured out online bill pay. She buys a money order and mails it to DH every time she has to pay him anything. (usually like $3 and the money order cost more then the check)

keeping a job and paying bills. cuz yanno she doesnt have to bother with little things like that when it's always handled for her.

1. Parenting. She's all about being a BFF rather than teaching her kids skills.

2. Paying the bills. Given the choice between buying groceries for her kids and concert tickets to the Goth Fest, she'll take the Goth Fest. She's always getting her electricity and cable shut off of because she can't think ahead. I have $200 in my pocket? Oh! I can upgrade to the next iPhone! The heat bill? Oh, I think maybe I paid that already. wait, maybe not.... Oh well, I'll worry about it when the heat gets shut off!

3. Social skills. None. Zero. She snaps her fingers and whistles to get people's attention. Then wonders why people ignore her and go out of their way to avoid her.

4. Hygiene. She stinks, literally. Her kids stink. Her husband stinks. They reek of cat pee, mildew, and BO. It's a scent combination that defies description. I've never seen her in anything but stained sweatpants and stretched out t-shirts that must be a men's XXXL. I've never seen her with her hair brushed. YSS showed us a family portrait they had taken (he carried a wallet size everywhere). In it, the SSs and BM's DH were wearing white ribbed wife beaters and BM and her stepdaughter had on the giant t-shirts all stretched out at the collar. Pure. Class.

Ha! Thanks! I've been lurking. Haven't had a whole lot to report since we haven't heard from SS17 in almost a year and a half, and DH doesn't speak to his BM-loving parents. It's been pretty peaceful. I also have a Smile different job and cant spend all day here anymore...alas!

Having a conversation without being passive or just out right aggressive. It's always demands or accusations. But I have a feeling she speaks to everyone like shit.

1) Spelling. Her title at work is "Director of Business Operations" yet she sent out an inner office email stating that "knats" had become a problem when the trash is not changed. She spelled it wrong three times, including in the subject line. Apparently, she had no idea how to proof read or use spell-check.

2) Grammar. That goes with spelling, clearly.

3) Big words. Yes, big words. She thought purge meant to keep. Lenient meant to be hard on. And my favorite oversight, which to her meant to see things clearly, not a mistake. She actually argued that these were the definitions in more that one staff meeting at work.

4) People-skills. On more than one occasion this woman has stormed out of company meetings crying and then left the building for the day because someone pointed out that she was not following proper procedure for an order, client call, etc. How she is employed is a mystery...

5) Cooking. Her breakfast of champions for ss is two jelly donuts and a mountain dew. He's nine, mind you.

6) Nutrition. See #5. She refuses to change ss's diet, as per prescribed by a pediatric specialist due to his bowel issues, because she's just lazy. Instead, she continues to give the child Miralax daily, after being told not to by the doctor.

7) Money management and budgeting. New car every three years? Why not! It's not a problem that she's upside down on the loan! That's what child-support increases are for! I sh*t you not, ladies. Every time she gets a new vehicle we get dragged back to court.

Lol, my ex-husband was the same way, also a "jack of all trades--master of none." Once he was at home trying to repair a problem with his truck. I was at work at the time and text him to ask, "so what's the prognosis?" His reply: "not sure, I haven't taken that part out yet or looked at it."

I've often thought about giving her a dictionary and thesaurus (which I'm sure she thinks is a dinosaur) for Christmas anonymously. But I doubt she would have the inclination to use one as she "is always right". }:)

LMAO! Awesome, Fruit!! I once asked dh if all of her tattoos were spelled correctly? He replied that they were all Disney characters, like a child's picture book, no spelling required.

She cannot live on her own, has to have a man or live with her mother.

Even when she is with a man, she moves a lot (evictions).

Anger management
Financial management
Decency

And for heavens sakes if you are 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide do not wear striped floor length dresses .

I'm going to go with ALL ADULTING SKILLS. BM does not posses a single one of them. She doesn't work, doesn't have good personal hygiene, can't speak or write properly. She is a drug addict and a piss poor excuse of a "mom".
