Shoot for the stairs!!

Yes, I meant 'stairs', not 'stars'. Climbing stairs is excellent exercise. You will burn up to 50% more calories climbing stairs at a slow pace that you would walking briskly on level ground.

Climbing stairs immediately raises your heart rate, maximizing your cardio benefits. It is also a great way to increase core muscle strength - glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, abs, and calves - thus toning your body better. One of the best ways to lose belly fat is to get your legs working!

Climbing just eight flights of stairs a day lowers average early mortality risk by 33% Seven minutes stair climbing a day can halve the risk of heart attack over 10 years. Just two minutes extra stair climbing a day is enough to stop average middle age weight gain.

BONUS: You can climb stairs in all seasons, rain or shine. Get climbing!!

The best part of using steps for exercise they are free. And it really doesn't feel like you are exercising because you are not at a gym.

Free is good! But it CAN feel like exercising if you climb up down up down up down up down....

Exactly, Goodluck!! Because we all know that I am definitely clumsy enough to fall down them (or up!!).

Aniki I don't not mean to insulate you were clumsy.

ITS FOR EVERYONE.... Wink

My 1adult kid fell down the steps and the tail bone broke...OUCH

Goodluck, maybe if I was insulated, I wouldn't get hurt...LOL

Seriously, I AM clumsy! I have fallen up AND down stairs too many times to count. IMO, running stairs is for coordinated folks. I was a stair runner until I ripped ligaments in my ankle (NOT running stairs at that time). That ankle never healed properly and will give out with no warning. My stair running days are long over.

Aniki, as much as I am sure your DH likes your toned booty, I'm worried for your health and safety that you take the stairs. Be careful!

My trainer likes putting me on the Stairmaster, and I want to punch her in the face everytime. I hate it. But if I gripe, she makes me do step ups on higher objects, so I'm bored either way.

Lt Dad, my DH luuuuuuuuuuuurrrrvvvs my booty! LOL

Rest assured, I make sure I'm wearing shoes with good tread and my hand is on the railing. Biggrin
