:jawdrop: What is wrong with people, that they can't (won't) take care of their responsibilities?

WalkOnBy's picture

yep - remember back in the fall when we got what we think was her federal and state refunds? That was almost 2 grand Smile

And she is STILL over 10K in arrears...

we didn't get a letter or any notification. It just showed up on MiSDU and since it was an even amount ($1730 ish and $419) and we just assumed it was her refunds.

It was applied to her arrearage, so it made sense to us that it was her tax refunds.

Been there dealt with that...

My XH was over $10,000 behind in CS. I never even bothered with trying to get him to pay 1/2 the medical bills which would have added up to another $4000 if you count braces.
When BS was 17 the courts finally went after him. He agreed to pay around $2000 to stay out of jail. He paid it and then tried to bully me into giving him the money back. I refused and he has been evil and nasty to me since that time. Even turned my former SD against me. He's a real winner.
We ended up in court for his past due CS because the judge didn't want to let him off so easy. The judge told him if he missed one payment he would go to jail.
He finally started paying $20 extra a week in arrears. The judge told him it would take YEARS for him to pay it off if that is all he could to.
Once BS aged out and was emancipated, XH pays around $100 every 6 weeks toward child support. He will never pay it off. He is self employed so he works for cash and doesn't get a tax return.

Yup - Medusa is "self-employed" and works for cash under the table, too.

Thankfully, I am a super sleuth and usually find out what's going on with her.

WalkOnBy's picture

Whenever Michigan says they can't find Medusa, I send them all the information they need to find her.

Should I have to do their job? Nope. Does my home benefit from my efforts? You bet Smile

My ex just decided to stop paying cs because we are going through a modification request. Let the good times roll.

WalkOnBy's picture

Asshat did that when DH moved in to my house. To take care of me. After an emergency hysterectomy. One month before our wedding.

I filed a motion so fast his head spun. Asked for a review, too, since it had been 10 years since we'd had one.

The judge bitched him out AND made him pay more money Smile

I know I am just thankful that I am financially independent and can survive without anything from my ex.

It will be interesting to see what happens when we go to court next month. He feels that because I am able to support BS & myself that he should not have to pay me. I accepted less originally so he would sign the decree and quit fighting. Three years later we are having our first review and he is refusing to acknowledge the black and white numbers of what is owed so we are going to have to go to court. It just so happens that he decided now would be a good time to quit paying period. Even my lawyer said she expects this will get interesting. I dread it.

I forget what state you are in - is it an income shares model or a straight percentage?

I can't understand why these people think that because the other parent has the ability to support the kid by themselves (usually out of necessity, by the way) that negates their responsibility to the kid?

Ugh!!!
