Will Need To Find Out

how many hours SD stb 20 is working at the local pizzeria.   I have her SS#, full name and DOB.    The registrar has confirmed that SD is NOT back in community college.  We plan to go back to court in accordance with the CO which states:

Emancipation Event

6.  engaging inf full-time employment after the attaining the age of eighteen (18) years of age, except, and providing that:

"If the child is employed part-time and capable of full-time employment, the parties shall re-enter mediation to determine a new support schedule based on the then existing circumstances of the child's capabilities for self-support."

BTW the Girhippo ABSOLUTELY REFUSED to do any "mediation" after the CO was signed.  Everything must be processed through court.  She recently lost her attorney as he won a judgeship in a local municipality so she has to go attorney surfing.

Chef is still paying $800 a month making basically $18 an hour for 40 hours

I really feel for you!  This is ridiculous.  I think it is mind boggling that courts can continue making a parent pay child support after a child turns 18.  18 is an adult.  SD should be supporting herself.  Ugh!  These courts enable these money grubbing BMs and it is out of control!  I'm sure this is something BM in my case will do...force SD into college so she can drag out the CS longer...we already have college fund enforcement.  SO has to contribute but not BM.  It honestly disgusts me!

will most undoubtedly throw out the "learning disabled" card and point to SD's horrific grades as proof she is "learning disabled"  In reality it is a smokescreen for her terrible non-parenting.

I can't imagine labeling my child as "learning disabled" in order to draw out CS.  These HCGUBMs are the devil!  Doesn't even matter though when she isn't attending school!  BM needs to learn how to support herself and stop using her meal ticket children!

I know there's pros and cons to your relationship with Chef, and that he's incredibly lucky to have you in his life. Still, I enjoy the way you help him in spite of himself and love how you're the only person with the guts to challenge his ex.

Go for the throat, Thinktrice. One by one, the Girhippo is going to be stuck with the lazy adult sloths she's created.

Has Chef ever tried the "constructive emancipation" argument in regards to SD? That given her age and her refusal to have a relationship with him, he shouldn't have to pay any child support?

I know it's a tough sell in the courts, but seems worth the effort for a 20-year-old who has been alienated for that long.
