SS15: can I go to the school dance tomorrow?
DH: depends on your progress report.

Marks were 50/65/70

DH:that's decent. You can go.

:jawdrop:

My forehead hurts and there's a dent in my bathroom wall.

I got told today that Sd18 was DONE with high school, that she wanted to make a fresh start in college next year, and that IT DIDN'T MATTER if she made Ds for the rest of the year because her cumulative gpa would still be over a 3.0.

That was the point where I told her that she had gotten a fresh start THIS year, and there was no way in hell I was going to pay for college for a D student who is half-assing her way through school.

I told DH that if she thinks this is acceptable, I'd be willing to give her the car and enough cash to get her back to her mama's, but fuck college.

He agreed. I am lucky.

Actually, we're pretty sure he'll be a logger or work the oil fields. Obviously, he's chosen not to pursue higher education as a goal. I'm pleased my DH "handled" it, but... Well, when you disengage, you have to take it as it is!

The real triumph for me is in the fact that, besides a heartfelt "IDIOT!" that I managed to suppress until he was out of earshot, I was over it in minutes Smile

DS high school has a big award night for anyone with a 2.0 or above.

At our house 2.0 is grounding territory.

Ridiculous.

What does "E" mean?

Our school is on a 7 point grading scale. Anything under an 85 is a C. To get a B you have to have an 85 to a 92. Makes it really difficult to be an A student - 93 and up, but it certainly makes them try harder that's for sure.
