Skid milestones.

I was so buried in job search, my nieces wedding celebration, job acceptance, and onboarding with my new company that I flashed past some great stuff in my son's life.

In mid April he reached his 10 service anniversary with the USAF.  Half way to qualifying for full military retirement.  In Oct 2020 he was promoted to E-6.  His mom and I are very proud of the man we raised together.

In March he re-enlisted for 6 more years.  There were some SNAFUs with his re-enlistment that nearly saw him separated from the USAF .... for three days due to some administrative errors with his one year extension that was supposed to have occurred when his current Germany assignment was extended by a year from Oct 2020 to Oct 2021.  They extended his Germany assignment but did not extend his USAF enlistment to cover his assignment extension which was supposed to happen.  When he turned in his re-enlistment paper work for a fresh 6 year re-enlistment all kinds of alarms went off and people started scrambling to avoid separating him from service.

Ultimately everything worked out.  Shortly after his re-enlistment ceremony he applied for an off cycle extension of his extended Germany assignment due to mass transfer of the project team he is leading to consolidate multiple jobs into a new job category.  He escalated to his commander who immediately ran the flag up the food chain to get GO approval for my son's extension in Germany until Oct of 22.

So, the Skid remains.... pretty amazing.

Thanks for suffering my proud dad moment.

Your son is making a great career for himself! TSgt is a tough stripe to earn so congrats to him on this well-earned promotion!

My son hits 7 yrs active duty Air Force, this week actually, as a boom operator and instructor. We spent 7 years in Germany when I was stationed there (Air Force too) until he was almost 10 yr old. I hope your son can travel and do fun things there.

Your son might just come back to the states with the customary cuckoo clock, BMW, wife, baby and a schrunk!

You did good Rags as did your lovely bride! Wishing her a happy Mothers Day!

There is more to SParenting and blended family life than just PAS, drama, manipulation, and toxicity.

Sharing my Skid's example makes me smile.
