Therapist changes but good news still.

Well, we got good news/bad news from SS14's emotional therapist last night. She will be moving on to other pastures. (This happens a lot, as this is a college town and many interns and residents work with the therapist groups in the area.)We will miss her. She has been very helpful. SS14 has learned to manage his anger much better. He also has learned to express his emotions and identify them. This is a big thing for Autistic Kiddos. Sometimes they just have all these FEELINGS but no way to express.

So the bad news is she is leaving. And we will be getting another therapist to work with.

The good news, she wanted to make sure that DH and I knew that we were also a factor in his growth. She said we were on the right path in parenting him. I hate to use the term "good parents" because we all do the best with what we have. But that is the term she used.

That was nice; to get the validation that as frustrated as I get with him sometimes, that we are on the right track in trying to raise him into a decent member of society.

Now...if I can only convince him that "Playing video games" is not a solid career choice.

Somehow, I just don't see that as what he is imagining. I think he is thinking about sitting at home...with the xbox...doing nothing but filming himself playing games and posting on youtube. sigh.

That's ONE guy making the big bucks. It's like encouraging a girl who is a little pitchy to try to make it singing. The odds aren't in her favor.

My SIL plays video games for a living. She makes the big bucks. Been playing since childhood and managed to make a career at it. She has now produced several major games. Her Christmas bonus is more than I make in a year....and I'm a high earning nurse. She was also teased growing up for being a nerd. She's still a nerd, and a beautiful blonde hair blue eyed perfectly fit and toned and highly intelligent nerd.
