Ego Boost

Ninji's picture

Over the weekend SS was putting away dishes and I was getting dinner started.

I was joking with him saying that we were having liver and onions.

After a little back and forth, I told him we were actually having meatloaf.

Skids and DH love my meatloaf.

SS: Have you ever eaten my moms meatloaf

Me: I've never eaten anything your mom has made

SS: Well, it's horrible. It's like a huge blob of meat. It's taste horrible

Me: Well the secret is...

And I went on to tell him how I make meatloaf.

It was a great ego boost. Smile

you got a good skid Ninji.....

lets swap }:) }:)

and yes it's nice to simply chat with a skid and hearing that you are not that bad

Only time I want to hear a skid talk about BM if it's like this! Wink

On another note, I made zucchini meatloaf last week and it was awesome!!!! tying to be creative beyond just zucchini bread since we have so much zucchini in the garden

Ninji's picture

I love zucchini bread. I made lemon and blueberry bread last week. It was good but my blueberry's sunk to the bottom. Turned out like a pineapple upside down cake put with blueberry's. It was yummy. Smile

Skids and DH love my cooking. We met DH's mom for the first time over Christmas (me and the skids). SS talked none stop about my cooking. Saying I never cook the same thing twice. I do but not very often. Smile

Ugh - I WISH I had a skid like that...

I am an excellent cook, like really, really good Smile

My skids turn their noses up at everything unless it comes from a fast food joint (which we don't do) or a box.

I don't accommodate this bullshit, but it still makes me beyond irritated.

Thing2 is home for about a month until he heads to Japan and he is constantly asking me what I am making for dinner, when am I going ot make blah blah blah, can't believe he gets to eat so well, and on and on and on Smile

I put my foot down with DH when we first moved in together. I bought all the groceries and did all the cooking. Skids will eat what I make or he can buy all the groceries and do all the cooking.

Skids will now eat pretty much anything.

I am no chef...but I try to cook most of our meals from scratch or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

BM's idea of a good meal is canned beef stew over rice. Or tomato soup mixed with mac and cheese.

When SD first came here to live with us, she tried to get me to buy that stuff for her. Uhh...NO. But I'll MAKE beef stew for you. See the difference?

WalkOnBy's picture

that's exactly how Medusa cooked - processed crap thrown over rice or potatoes.

NOPE!!!

Ninji's picture

Skids eat ramen noodles or basket food from BM's work when they are with her. They are happy to have real meals when they get to our house.

TwelveLongYrs79's picture

We'd ask SD did she eat lunch/dinner when she came home from a weekend.
"Oh, my mom bought me a hashbrown/french fries on our way here..."

Ok...

Edit to add: BM's been given holy hell by DH for dropping her off (several times) to us at 9 oclock at night after running all around town with SD, and not having fed her or giving her the opportunity to eat something most of the day.

WalkOnBy's picture

this was literally the meal schedule at Medusa's

Monday - McDonald's
Tuesday - Taco Bell
Wednesday - Wendy's
Thursday - Tuna potatoes (I guess she considered this a meal)
Friday - Pizza
Saturday - some stupid shit thrown over rice
Sunday - dinner at a local restaurant

I thought tuna potatoes would be a can of tuna mixed into a box of scalloped potatoes. My DH adds tuna to mac & cheese.

the first time BV asked me to make it for her, I was all "nope, nope, nope, nope, that is NOT food, let alone a meal. Now, excuse me while I go upstairs and barf."

Ninji's picture

We've had this too. SS starving AND falling asleep while trying to eat something because she kept the out until 3am at the bar and then sleep all day and didn't feed them.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

BioHo has never thought twice about dropping the skids off at a late hour and expecting us to feed them. But hot damn, DH had better have them back in time for Sunday dinner!!!

TwelveLongYrs79's picture

Funny thing is...when SD was little and still lived with Skankula, during a weekend for visitiation, we got up late and ate a huge late breakfast (eggs, toast, pancakes, etc...at like 10-11a). Had a light snack at some point...Then we ate dinner at 6 pm, and DH took her home.

SD came back the next scheduled weekend, and said to me " I told my mom we didn't have lunch last weekend...she said if you didn't feed me lunch, I'm never coming here again."
Gotta loooovvvve the double standard there. Dirol

Gads!

Oh, it's so gross, isn't it? She loves my cooking/baking - the funny thing is she had ALLLL these stomach issues when she lived with BM....stomach pain, constipation.
Within living with us for a couple of months, they 'magically' disappeared. Whodathunk?!
And hey, I cook hot dogs and mac and cheese for the kids more than I'd like to admit...but most nights I try to make a meal: a protein, a starch, a vegetable.

She still eats kind of crappy, more starches and junk than she should...but she's a teen - I remember those days eating whatever you wanted...

I look at a piece of cake now and gain 2 pounds. Blum 3

WalkOnBy's picture

BabyVoice had horrible stomach issues when she lived with Medusa. Medusa had BV convinced she had IBS but continued to feed BV all the crap I mentioned above. She also always had BV on anti-biotics.

Turns out BV didn't have IBS but she DID have C-DIFF!

DH has had custody for 5 and a half years. Skids haven't seen Medusa in the same amount of time. BabyVoice has had exactly ZERO stomach issues in that time.

These women - I swear to DOG!

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Better than BioHo!! If it's not fast-food or pizza, it's junk food or frozen entrees. 'Ho couldn't make a grilled cheese if her life depended on it.

ESMOD's picture

Love this! My YSD just called me last week to get my seafood dip recipe to serve everyone on the vacation she was on with BM and BM's BF.

The kids always ate like starved rats when they were with us because I don't think they got much other than takeout and mcd's when they lived with their mom.

I'm not sure if BM2 even knows how to cook. She feeds SD8 like a dog. I've always had an aversion to chef boyardee...SD has it all the time. I hate that gross orange sauce that stains everything..and the fact that it's disgusting.

SD only eats frozen entrees, sh!t out of a can, or junk food. Needless to say, she's overweight and has several issues that could be easily avoided.

But it's okay, BM has it all under control. SD just has some baby fat and she's perfectly healthy. It has nothing to do with the daily milkshakes and endless crap food. (In addition to the non-existent physical activity. Unless, you know, swiping on the iPad counts as a physical activity)

momjeans's picture

That's sweet, ninji.

I'm pretty sure BM never cooks for skid. I used to, back in the day when DH had her often during the weeks, or we'd take skid out for real food. I stopped once skid started returning and telling us how her mom said "Ewww, gross!" when she told her what she ate at daddy's house.

BM flipped her lid when we packed skid healthy lunches for school, because "skid doesn't like _______! SEND HER WITH THE LUNCH I MADE!"

The lunch BM would send skid with, for the following day of school?
3 juice boxes
2 packs of gummies
1 cracker and cheese pack
Maybe a lunchable of some sort

It was the craziest thing ever.

BM was notorious for going through the drive-thru and getting fast food for skid before pick-up time. Often dropping her off with the food, because "it's what skid wants". Even more often when BM was aware we were taking skid out to a real dinner after pick-up.

BM has/had zero investment in a healthy diet for her child. It's very obvious it's still that way after dinner with skid last night.

I just don't get it.
