Ugh food issues with SS and BM is not helping

missangie1978's picture

So we've got SS 10 full-time and we've been having issues with him eating everything insight when he gets home from school. He's only home for about 1 hour until either I or his dad get home but he'll eat everything, e.g. a whole loaf of bread with peanut butter, all the chocolate milk (gallon).

Well it seems he told BM that he was getting in trouble with us for eating so she actually send 4 bags of grocerries home with him this weekend. We explained he had enough to eat and we were feeding him and the only issue was he was getting into everything and then lying about it but she still states he's starving and needs to eat.

We've taken SS to the dr and they said he's just eating because he can and there is nothing wrong with him. My thought is that he's eating all sugary or junk food mainly because we don't allow a lot of it and we are strict about what he can eat and at BM's he eats only junk so he wants it at our house as well.

Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

My SS14, SS13 and SS11 have always been well behaved when it came to eating stuff after school. DH taught them respect where my BS17 really doesn't have any.

Plus, now we are on portion control thanks to BM and there isn't any junk in the house at all.

I've never seen a child eat like this kid can. And I know what you mean about the stockpiles depleated after two days of shopping! It must be something with teenage boys......

I do the same thing though. I tell him everyday what he can have for an afterschool snack. Then when I get home I check to make sure he did what we asked of him. I would lock it up to, but at the same time saying "no" should be more effective. JMO.
