Insurance came up last night. And SD has a cell phone

First things first, where is Sally? She is on normally the same time I am and I haven't seen her.

I am so far disengaged from DH and SD8 that this one nearly missed me. Thankfully my ears did perk up a bit for this one.

BM found an insurance carrier that she likes for SD8. If you remember, the last time I posted about this she was saying she earned out of Medicare and SD didn't have insurance and BM would wait until December to get her a plan. Sounds like she is on track to doing that. God for her. She is putting in the air that she wants to adjust child support. We will see how that goes since she earned out of medicare she obviously makes more money that is currently not being reported. DHs job shut down and he couldn't find work as a restaurant manager so he is currently a bar tender (yes, you read that right). His hours are picking up but no amount of bar tending hours are going to make up for restaurant manager pay.

And SD has a cell phone. I did ask that DH ban the phone from our house. I wanted to say something immediately when i saw it but decided to let the day play out on its own. SD spent the whole day asking to call her mom to tell her something or another. After she aas dropped off i asked that she not be allowed to bring it because we would wind up being responsible for it or something wouldn't go the way she wanted and she would 'tattle' on us and the whole spending the day calling her mom.

No it won't. She'll be on it every time she's parented in any way. She'll be calling/texting to complain and BM will validate her feelings and tell her you guys shouldn't be so mean to her. BTDT.

Thats right up there with how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie roll pop.

The world may never know.

I agree with Heavenlike. There is no reason an 8yo needs a phone, if she wants to ring her mother she can do it from one of your phones where it can be monitored.

BM pays insurance, your CS will go up. Funny how that works. If DH pays for skids only, it's like $200/month out of his paycheck. State calculations say that if BM pays medical insurance, he has to pay $400/month more of CS. Careful there!

I would simply make it clear - We do not allow 8 year olds to have cell phones, thus she can leave her cell phone at home with BM, and no SD you can't call BM every 5 minutes, there will be the normal schedule for calling BM, on our time.... now run along and go and play with your dolls
