Things this last year have been very rough for us, SO unemployed for 6 months (he just got a job) and me working through school, clinicals, and internships on my way to get my Paramedic degree. Plus working when I can and all 4 kids to take care of when we have all four and my 2 majority of the time (though their dad (really his gf) is trying to not pay cs and not look for work since he's cash under the table) he has been asking for the kids more even though I know what he's after (the kids over heard them talking and his brother told me as well) I let them go whenever they want and offered all of Christmas break to him. I will never had it said I kept the kids from him.
To the point I just got cleared for my medic internship to start, and meet with the medical director after Christmas break to go test for my Intermediate license (we're a slow state to drop the I) when after months of trying to find a job in this field no openings, no ones hiring. I had a patient who hurt her hand during my clinical last week, it was a bad injury swollen and infected. I introduced myself as a student and helped get her history etc as the nurse and I left the room to go get doc's orders I turned around as I do all my patients and asked her if there was anything else I could do or get for her while she waited, she said no and thanked me. I checked on her awhile later to let her know where we were at getting her treatment and asked again if she needed anything, she asked if she could have something for the pain and I went to ask the doc who okayed it. I started the IV, gave the meds and sat with her (I like to do this when I can when I give pain meds to make sure the patient doesn't get sick or have a reaction) and she asked about why I stuck around and I told her.
We ended up cleaning and bandaging her hand and she got antibiotics. She chit chatted with me while we cleaned it up asked about my education, why I was doing it, what I liked, what I found hard. She left and thanked me for wonderful care.
Yesterday I got called for an interview with the local ambulance company! turns out that patient was the wife of the HR of the ambulance company, she went home and recommended me!
Cross your fingers I want this so very bad it makes me want to cry.

That is awesome and I wish you luck. My husband always says, be very aware of how you treat someone, as you don't know who they might be. I guess he is right.

The interview went well I felt prepared and think I did great highlighting the benefits of hiring me even with the lack of experience ny competition has. I should hear Friday if not then after Christmas
