Follow up therapy visit

The therapist is rather disgusted.

From the last therapy appointment until this morning I jotted down every time I heard this kid utter a comment about her own looks, what was said, who she said it to etc.

The good news appears to be she brags to one and all equally, is not singling out any one individual for more torture than any other. We also went over her being grounded from talking for 24 hours and why. Therapist thought the three pages of comments she got was bad... imagine if the kid had been afforded another 24 hours to tell everyone how gorgeous she was! I bet we could have gotten another page out of her!

Session today lasted an hour, not counting the amount of time I was in the room talking to her at the beginning of the session. Nothing said by skid3 on the way home as far as how the session went. Instead she informed me she found the backpack she wanted for the upcoming school year (uh... you broke 4 backpacks last year... nice dream that you will only need one this year!) and gee wizz... its ONLY $140.00 and since its so cheap... she wants the $45 wallet that matches it!

I flat told her no. Just no. Then she was wanting to know why, that no wasn't a reason. She can't seem to get I don't HAVE to give her a reason... I am simply refusing to purchase it. The kid does not have a job, has caviar taste on a cracker budget. Here is an idea: get a job and go EARN it cause I ain't getting it. I dont care how good your grades are, if your chores are done or not, I am not spending nearly $200 on a backpack and wallet!

I thought about it. But the reality is she still won't take care of it because it came out of my pocket. Let the child find herself a job, work for minimum wage and realize for herself the value of a dollar earned. And that you cannot earn the dollars as fast as you want to.

A year ago the kid was not like this. In the last year, honestly the last six months, she has gotten very conceited, turned into an attention whore (literally standing on her head for attention) and has become fixated on everything having to be name brand. The behaviors have ramped up since she was accepted onto the cheer leading team and DH is about to pull the plug on it due to her attitude. She can go join the chess club or math club to belong to a club if she really has to 'belong'.

And no, she has not been cheer leading all her life. She tried out on a fluke. She made it. Also understand this high schools cheerleaders are not competition material. No flying. No gymnastics. Dance around a little bit, repeat same four tired cheers over and over, rinse repeat. DH and I have been seeing the routine for years now due to the oldest boy being in marching band.

Get her an LL Bean backpack with the lifetime warranty. And then make her use it for years.

Loving this idea... do they all have lifetime warranties?? Or is it a specific one?? I am on the website now!

I think all their products have that warranty. And you can find some real dorky looking ones too.

Oh yeah... I am sooo going to enjoy this. Hmm, boys are here to pick theirs out... shame she ran off to the mall with a friend of hers huh??

I am thinking the bright pink with different colored circles.

What?

She said she likes pink... and that other one she wanted was kind of a pink (ok teal) color!

I think so too. I read a blog one time about a lady who had LL Bean pants that were "guaranteed not to pill." After 8 years, they did so she sent them back and got new ones.

I am not sure if I agree with that. I think eight years is a little excessive but the company promotes its lifetime guarantee so I guess they have to deal with that.

Agreed! BS17 has one he's been using for over 10 years, and it's still in perfect shape!
