Last annoying reminder of SD in my home is now gone....and forks

For all of you old timers who might remember how pissed off I was when DH allowed SD to paint one of the walls in her room a putrifying shade of pink a couple of years ago..... it's now gone!!!!!!!!! The last reminders of the hell that was SD living in and trashing areas of my home are g.o.n.e!!! SD has been gone 1.5 years now and FINALLY, DH ripped up the carpet in her room yesterday and painted over the nasty pink wall in a nice, NORMAL, shade of taupe. New hardwood floors will be going down this week and as of yet I haven't decided what to do with the room. DH thinks I should make it my work out room, but I kind of like my work out room where it is now in the basement because it's nice and cool. I was thinking I could make it a play room for BS6, since he hates playing in his room because it's upstairs and this room is on the main floor, or maybe we could make it into an office/den?? I don't know, the possibilities are endless! Blum 3 The other bedroom on the main floor (that was originally intended for SS) has been made into a spare bedroom and the week that SD18 moved out, I redid that bathroom as well (new shower curtain, rug, paintings etc) because she had trashed everything.

At any point, I am so glad that I really, truly, have 100% of my house back now!!!!!! No more reminders of monsters! And after all the hard work DH has done putting down new floors, painting, moving furniture etc. I HIGHLY doubt he would ever be OK with a request from SD to move back in so she can trash everything again. Which leads me to my next little tidbit..

Apparently she has NOT reformed herself in the least since moving in with Aunt J, as I got a message from her last week that she was pissed because her formal silverware kept coming up missing. She asked SD about it, because of course SD is still a slob and has trashed the room and bathroom that she uses and of course SD claimed she had no idea where the silverware could be. A couple of days later, Aunt J found a fork in her backpack and confronted SD again and she came clean. Apparently she has been taking the silverware to school and Lord knows where else for Lord knows what reason because Aunt J said there is always plenty of plastic ware in the house. So Aunt J ordered a new silverware set and charged the $140.00 to SD18 debit card. LMAO

May the fork be with you Aunt J!! You rock! Biggrin

well yes.... but Aunt J also makes her put a portion of her paycheck in there... so at any rate.... it's money that could have been hers that's gone because FINALLY someone gave her a consequence!!!!!

LOL Aunt J was super duper pissed because the set she had was discontinued so she had to go with another one. Sad

Oh and when I was in SD18 old bedroom last week, getting some stuff out of there so DH could rip up the carpet, I found a fork under the heat register... no surprise there of course!!!

Make it an office - that's what I am doing with ASS'S room.

Maybe you could do a combo office/playroom???

You'd be amazed at what new flooring and primer can do to rid a place of odor. Don't forget the ceiling!!

Place a couple drops of vanilla in the primer/paint as well to help.

I bought my last place from people who let their animals use the bedroom they converted into an office as "their" room, iykwim.

I did think about that as it's a pretty big bedroom, so probably room for both.

I seriously can't even begin to explain the happiness, the huge smile on my face when I saw the painting stuff in the sink this morning (DH is a night owl so apparently he painted last night while the rest of us were sleeping) and I went in the room and saw the beautiful taupe walls!!!!!! Biggrin Biggrin Biggrin It's the little things!

The possibilities ARE endless!! KUDOS!!! Has Aunt J also checked in the garbage? It seems to me that throughout the past 10 years of SMs blogging AND my own personal experience, that skids LOVE to dump good cutlery into the trash.

My theory on this is because skids usually eat with plastic cutlery at the BM's house or are "run through the drivethru" as never a wholesome homemade meal do their lips touch.

SS30 ran a sterling silver spoon of mine thru the garbage disposal. An honest - but dumbass mistake.

I'm turning SD's room into my closet when she moves put next year. }:) I can't wait!! Our house was built in the 40's so closets are dismal. I can't wait to have an empty nest and have my house the way I want it.
