Anyone Else Here Have Their Cutlery Thrown in the Garbage by Skids?

thinkthrice's picture

My theory on this is that skids never ate with real metal silverware. Only plastic cutlery from the drive thrus at the BM's house. So naturally they'd just toss the cutlery.

I used to see my spoons, forks and knives continuously tossed in the trash after skids ate their "kid friendly" meals that Chef cooked them (and that I gave up cooking them after I disengaged and realized that I expected my bios to eat what was put in front of them just as my parents had taught me).

I asked Chef to address this issue. He did "remind" them that cutlery should be placed in the sink and not in the trash. However it fell upon mostly deaf ears as by then skids were in the habit of tossing everything into the trash.

I also found a few pieces of ceramic dishes in the trash along with the flatware so I quickly moved to serving them on paper plates.

Did anyone else experience this and how did you correct it?

All the time! It's Uber annoying. Sometimes I see it on the trash someone's I don't realize until I realize we are running low....

My Skids BM works in a bar and I know she brings a lot of that junk bar food home to feed them. But I'm sure they still use regular silverware to eat with.

That just sounds like jackass lazy behavior to me.

I'm down to 5 dinner forks and 3 salad forks so I totally understand! We just purchased new flatware.

wth was I thinking's picture

"I'd take all the silver wear out and let them eat with their hands like animals"

This would be a dream come true for my skids. SD11 still tries to pick up pancakes with her hands and shove them in her face, dripping syrup and all.

Disgusting.

Oh yeah. I saw my skids try to eat from their plates just using their mouths--as in pie eating contest. I can't TELL you what sights I saw when they were eating out in public with us. ((((CRINGE))))

Yes, and I love my flatware that is discontinued. I bought plastic stuff for the skids to use. I explained that if they can't take better care of my things then they don't get to use it.

Hahaha!

That was a good one! Someone should buy these for their skids then register as a verified purchaser.

Then they could write a review:

"I purchased these because my stepchildren, who are unaccustomed to table manners--their wonderful parents having not taught them anything--kept throwing away my good flatware.

Pros: -inexpensive
-needs little instruction to use--although you might want to include them for kids used to eating with their fingers well into their teens.
-my flatware is no longer at risk of being tossed

Cons: -i think my stepchildren could use it as a weapon against my pets or injure themselves with it"

I never had that problem but my cutlery does tend to disappear. I have a husband problem. He uses utensils as make-shift tools and then leaves them wherever.

I had this too until I made him replace my knife sets which are proper sets and not $20 sets. Turns out $200 a knife set (carving knives etc) paid out his own pocket didn't make great tools after all }:)

I have no idea what skids did with my dishes, my silverware, or cups and glasses. Once I found my steak knife sticking out of a tree in my front yard. No, no one did yard work but me.

Saw one of my bowls, cups and a spoon sitting on the electrical box at the entrance to my subdivision. I guess someone ate while walking and left them sitting there on the side of the road. I had just bought a set of bowls and cups and one of each was missing. When I met DH I had about 4 complete sets of dishes, two full set of cheap silverware, and several sets of cups. I have three plates left from those sets and none are from the same set.

I also had some old antique dishes and glasses. Most of the really nice, possibly expensive pieces have been stolen, broken, trashed, I have no idea what happened to them. I found my boxes with several items missing and the packing paper tossed inside the boxes. That is when I got an outdoor lock for my bedroom. It was much easier for skids to go all the way to the back of the house, into my closet, pull down the big heavy box of antique dishes, unwrap them, close the box, put it back on my shelf, go back to the kitchen and put their food on a dish that has not been washed in over 20 years and probably is toxic since these dishes are from my great grandparents all the way from England or Germany. That was so much easier and faster then just washing a dish in the sink.

I hate skids!

I've never had stuff thrown out but DH and YSS used a knife from my good silverware set to do something (not sure what) that completely left burn marks on it. Why couldn't they have used the cheap Ikea set? I have no idea. It annoys me all over again everytime I see the knife.

This would happen to us when SD would leave weeks of leftover food in her room and just throw the plate away so she didn't get in trouble with Daddddeeee, like he ever did anything.

Solo cups, paper plates, plastic silverware.

"And I typically rewash plastic, too, but they toss it. I know BM refuses to use real tableware. That would require her to actually wash dishes and she'd have to get off the couch to do that."

We have a WINNER! Give the lady a box of Belgium Chocolates!

*giggles* cutlery. makes me think of bjork.....

thank god i dont have this problem. well, sorta. if i find any utensils, they're usually in strange, random places. bathroom floor? check. on the back deck rail? check. leaned up inside the upper portion of a window frame? check. i mean, what the hell......

if i ever slip up and ask dh "uh, why is this fork laying in MY bathroom sink?" the answer inevitably is "*sigh* i dont fucking know.... probably yss."

Yes, the flatware their was alive and well when ysd lived with me. I once caught Ss and ysd about to throw my Baccarat elephants at each other.

thinkthrice's picture

Oh believe me, that was a problem as well. WHEN daddykins told his angels to clear their plates from the dinner table (a RARE event) they would just throw everything into the trash.

I've had my fair share of ant infestation due to almost entire bottles of opened gatorade dumped all over the bedroom floor. As well as half eaten breakfasts, etc. in their rooms. I made a rule that there was to be no eating in the bedrooms. Chef thought this was "too harsh" but when we got our ant infestation it took him only two years later to put his foot down (a bit) to YSS who was yet to PAS out at the time.
