SD16 dumped!!!!

And apparently I am not being 'supportive' enough. *sigh*

I just got home from work and DH says, "I have some bad news". Now, I'm thinking his car, the washing machine, something that will actually impact my life.

"Nosering broke up with SD16"

Me: Oh. OK. (not my best response but I don't even have my shoes off yet)

DH: Really? that's all you have to say?

Me: *Desperate to avoid a fight since I have 15 hour work day ahead of me tomorrow* I'm sorry she was dumped.

DH: She's devastated!

Me: I'm sure she is.

DH: Don't you remember what it feels like to be 16? She feels like her world has come to an end!!!!

Me: *now desperately trying not to laugh* Of course she does. She seemed to really like this guy.

DH: She's been texting me for the last hour. Do you think I should go to BM's?

Me: Did she ask you to?

DH: No.

Me: Then no.

DH: Do you want to talk to her?

Me: Did she ask to?

DH: No.

Me: Then no.

No DH, you should not drive an hour to BM's house uninvited only to have the door slammed in your face. You are relishing the attention of your otherwise uninterested daughter because she knows you will lavish all the 'it's ok sweetheart, I wish I could take your pain away' 'boys are jerks, he doesn't deserve you.' bullshit she wants. In a couple days she was be wrapping her legs around someone else and go back to ignoring you.

How long was this relationship? Less than 2 weeks. She was caught with another boy less than a month ago that was balls-deep in her. Something tells me she will move on quickly...

Oh for the love of God!! People get dumped every single damn day - doesn't mean the world stops spinning and we all need to bow down and be martyrs!

SO cannot protect prectious from life - if he wants to teach her coping skills and how to deal with rejection - he's better off leaving her to deal with it. He cannot go and protect her from every relationship break up. I know my own Dad would just stay out of it 'cos he knows its part of growing up - but thats just me.

I get being supportive and offering a shoulder to cry on - but expecting YOU to comfort her? That's the BM's and Dad's job - unless you're close to her. Teens are resiliant - she's bounced back and will be ok - time for Dad to wise up and have some confidence in her.

DH just said a minute ago...'Teenage heartbreak...boy, I don't miss that' I nearly swallowed my tongue since he and I dated in highschool and he was the one with the reputation of breaking hearts! Except with me..I broke up with him..lol

I'm staying far far away from this one. Thankfully we don't see her again for a week and a half and she will have blown through (pun intended) a couple more boys by then.

If she comes to me, I will listen. But I highly doubt she will. She will run to Daaaddddyyyy for that shit.

Hand him a half gallon of ice-cream and a fifth of vodka and send him over there. Tell him that's how most women get over a breakup. Blum 3

What the ever lovin fu$k??? This isn't going to be the first break up or the last. I'm more sorry for you OP. Geez

Eta - I think these kids that age should not be allowed to be so serious with bf/gf. They have years to come for that crap.

Don't ya love it? My Ss21 refers to an exgirlfriend as "my ex". Ummm sorry. Your ex girlfriend your dated 4 months and you haven't even lived with is NOT YOUR EX! She is 'my old girlfriend' or 'that girl I used to date'. Not your 'ex'.

I am sure Ms16 will get over it. And maybe tell DH that maybe Karma is catching up with him thru his daughter due to all the girlfriends hearts he broke. Sins of the fathers and all that...
