It is what it is, even though it shouldn't be...

So stepson12 1/2 received 2 D's & an F last grading period, playing NO SPORTS. The school policy is any F's no sports the following grading period, anymore than 2 D's no sports, also. Sounds awesome. I agree.

So bio mom puts him in football. It's not a school sport. It's independent. Whatever. Now he's in a school sport. The policy is written BUT apparently she got school to agree to allow him to play.

This is not "his sport" it's not his dream. This is THE FIRST time he's ever done this sport in his life.
He didn't "just" have an F or 2 D's which would make him ineligible. He had BOTH.
He failed with NO SPORTS, let's put him in 2!!! Sounds reasonable. Yeah. Beee
He gets literally 20-50 seconds of playing time in football, which ironically is "his sport" "his dream" blah blah.

Okay. It's not up to DH. If he even suggests this is not acceptable we will be in court battling this dumb thing. So. He's "let it go" as best he can. And to be honest me too... Because since I have kids too... It very much affects me & my kids. Hey how come he gets to. I just say "Because you are my son & I am raising you to be accountable, he's not getting that child-rearing."

Okay. So skids are coming tonight. Both sports have started. He's going to be all up in my face, wagging his tail, panting for attention, tit-mouthed football this, high jump that. And I'm like "I could careless." No shits are given because HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY 1. By school policy & 2. By good parenting standards.

So bottom-line. He is doing both. With massively bad grades & attitude. So I have to be supportive cause it is what it is, even though it shouldn't be?

I don't even know how to fake it. I heard DH on the phone with him, apparently he can't fake it either... "What? School policy says no. Wow. Well you get to do something you shouldn't be. Don't make it worse by doing worse in school. You better rise to this, apparently they made a provision for you. You should not be doing it, but whatever."

To the SS: So you get lots of physical activity despite not passing and/or failing your educational opportunities? Hmm. Sounds alot like how prison works, hope you like orange!

I'll never understand why schools/some grown-ups make exceptions for any kid who fails to do the bare minimum.

^ seriously. Orange. Perhaps everything we buy him should orange or stripes... after all we want him to be well adjusted to HIS FUTURE. Haha
