SS and his new GF and criminals getting a slap on their wrists

Story #1

DH was working a side job and DH asked SS to help him. He shows up 3 hours late. About an hour after he shows up DH goes outside to his van to get a tool he needed and there is a car parked on the street and he said a little kid was in the car and waved at him. (there was also a girl in the car). DH didn't think anything about it. So about 2 hours after SS got there he mentions something to DH about his GF and her 2 kids are sitting in her car waiting for him to finish working. :? :O The kids are ages 1 and 3. DH was like uuhhhh....DH said that SS was there for a total of 3 hours while his GF and her kids just sat in the car. I'm shocked that she was able to sit in the car for that whole time with 2 little kids. I had checked out this girl on FB and she doesn't look like the brightest crayon in the box or the most stable.

Story #2

SS got an OVI (Marijuana) about 2 years back. While he was still in court for all of that he got pulled over again- OVI for the same thing. So he gets licensed suspended, 10 days in a work release house, probation. Well early July he got a probation revocation. Not sure what it was for. He has court Wednesday. Supposedly he told DH that through his lawyer they got a deal worked out and he is just going to have to do counseling. WTF. Seriously? I don't think he learned his lesson the first 2 times, nor cares about following his probation rules. Let's give him counseling- that will work!

2 years ago OSD stole from her work, skipped town and the marshals came and got her. She ended up with probation. She took money from the cash register. A year later she somehow manages to get a job where she has access to the company credit card and she charges like $3000 worth of stuff to the card. She was supposed to go to court last week and she got a plea deal. She ended up getting put into a diversion program. Again WTF. Didn't learn her lesson the first time, did the same thing the second time and all she got was a diversion program?

It cost X amount of $ per day to put someone in jail. SO spending $10,000 to jail someone who stole $3000 doesn't make sense.
And if you fill the jails with people like that what do you do with the real bad people that have to be in jail

True...

Jails are too crowded so people who are doing petty crimes are getting away with it. Sad but true.

Our legal system sucks. Too expensive to put them in jail, too expensive to send these feral kids who are making public schools a nightmare to treatment or detention centers so they just get slaps on the wrist and continue to do the same crap. I mean why wouldn't they? People manufacturing and selling meth is a bid issue where I live. I can't tell you how many times there will be a big meth bust, and they will arrest like 20 people, then 6 months later you'll see a bunch of the same people, getting arrested for the same freaking thing. These fuckers need to be sent away for a long time, but instead get a slap on the wrist and just continue on until they hurt or kill someone. It's ridiculous.
