Spring Break

So far, so good.

Last week DH cooked dinner 3 nights in a row! Not always what I wanted (i.e. where's the veg?) but he did it. He cleaned the kitchen and everything too.

I visited a friend out of town over the weekend which was so fun!

Meantime, DH went grocery shopping, cleaned the floors, realized the SDs stank and SD13 still wasn't brushing her teeth. When I returned HE initiated a good convo with me about his concerns and we had a good discussion. Basically, it's up to him.

Yesterday, he had SD13 wash her sheets (first time since November). Her PJs still aren't cleaned but whatever. SD11 did her own laundry on Sunday. Both bathed Sat/Sun. SD13 bathed again last night. SD13 was emptying the dishwasher when I got home (I thought I was hallucinating for a moment). She didn't load it of course, but I just left those for DH - he ended up having SD11 help load it.

Then DH helped me with dinner. He has his taxes mostly done and should submit them BEFORE the deadline. I bought SD11 deoderant for the first time and she agreed to wear it (I think she knows she needs it) and some kids' minty mouthrinse (she announced she now likes mint and she liked using the rinse). I think he told SD13 to brush her teeth, however I think she just rand water over it, but that's on him. It's an alternative universe I swear.

Next days, SDs spending time with friends today; DH is taking them for a local excursion soon, and then for a quick overnight somewhere nearby. I'm going to meet a friend for dinner and hopefully have Friday night all to myself. Well, with my cats.

Alone time with furbabies sounds lovely. My DH worked last night and I snuggled with my darling Mr. P for a good 30 minutes. <3

The kitties can hardly believe their luck when I'm alone on the couch, with a book or a movie started and their favorite blanket over my knees. Smile

I bet the kitties love that!! I don't have any more kitties and at 90 pounds (100 before the leg amputation), Mr. P is no lap dog. We snuggle on the floor. He absolutely luuuuuuuuuuvs it when we snuggle. I rub his ears and tummy and he sighs and mutters. I swear, it sounds like he's purring! LOL

What's with these SDs that don't shower?

And good on your DH for stepping up. Smile That's awesome.

Seriously I almost feel bad for them... The amount of times you hear about stepkids who don't shower on here is insane. Do their parents break up and both stop parenting?? Like what happens that these children aren't taught hygiene and why does it only impact stepkids it seems lol

Your DH is doing well!

Did I read that SD hadn't changed her sheets since November? As in 5 months ago? Excuse me while I shower again.

Yes, you are correct.
And her PJs haven't been washed since XMAS. She got them as a gift. I've told her 2x that if she puts them in the laundry room (across the hall from her room) I will throw them in the wash for her. NADA. She'll wear those things for DAYS on end - literally. I don't go near her when she's wearing them.

isn't life wonderful once we disengaged...

the only problem I have is DH only cooking 3 nights out of the week... that needs to be bumped up to 4 and half nights... the half night is BBQ night }:) new tradition lol....

EDIT to ADD: I have frozen veggies at all times, if SO cooks, it's meat and starch - I will simply take a bowel with frozen veggies, clean wrap it, poke a whole or 2 and microwave for 5 min... it's nice and crunchy still....
SO and Aergia does not eat fruit or veggies..

Yeah, I ended up stir frying up some asparagus to throw into the pasta dish...SD11 liked it too to my amazement. She's eating everything but fresh tomatoes (although she's been trying them on her own), potatoes of any kind, milk products (lactose intolerant I suspect), and fish. So she's pretty easy.

I keep a huge bag of green peas in the freezer for quick needs.

I don't even consider a veg for SD13. She'll nibble on the tops of broccoli or cauliflower. Although she does like corn and edamame she'll consume all veg in such small quantities her servings would fit on a teaspoon. But she'll eat a huge corn on the cob in the summer...?
