IRS issues

aaaaand yet again, our tax returns have been rejected. why, you ask? hmmmm.....

"R0000-507-01 - Someone has already filed a return with the IRS this year using your dependent's Social Security number (SSN)."

*sigh* i am sick of dealing with this $#!t every. single. effing. year. so, if there are any tax professionals or accountants around, would you mind advising a friend???? pretty please?

every year we have to mail in a paper return because our e-filing is rejected. every year i mail in our returns with an attached copy of the custody order AND a letter of explanation. last year we got our refund by mail - in SEPTEMBER. the year before that we received it in august. i'm really tired of this crap. is there something else we can do?

it's my guess that it is dumb@$$. and i wish i could knock her out lol!!! i doubt she gets w2's, my guess is they dont hand those out for giving blow jobs in exchange for meth....

we just use turbotax or taxslayer. i dont mind filing a paper return, it's just gotten really old and repetitive. you would think after the first few times the irs would have flagged her ss# or something, especially after providing repeat copies of the custody order. i really dont know why they havent!

Not that this is going to help you.... I refuse E-filing, if the system crash you have no proof of submitting ever.

I do the old forms, make copies, hand it in and ensure the office stamps is as received with a date...
you will not believe how many penalties I've received through the years for non submission or late sub missions, then I simply take my copy and say... my proof no get lost and refund me

You can probably find you property tax info on your county website. I misplaced my statement one year and found it on-line. It really saved me some time.

Form 8332 is the form for the custodial parent to release their claim to exemption so that the non-custodial parent can claim kids. I believe Tuff's DH IS the custodial parent, BM has NO right to claim the kids.

THAT would be correct. dh has primary physical custody with any visitation being 'mutually agreed upon' (which means NONE, as she has never asked.) if it is not mutually agreed upon, then she is entitled to eowe and alternate holidays, which she has never exercised that right either. please note also that she HAS exercised her, ahem, *right* to refuse payment of child support - in her own words "i'm not giving you one single dime, i dont give a $#!t what the judge ordered."

dh would have to sign a 8332 to allow her to claim them. it will be a cold day in hell before he ever does that.

I have to think if the genders were reversed, then the IRS would go after an NCP bioDAD like gangbusters for doing the same. The NCP bioDAD would get the nastygram from the IRS.

Because this is about an NCP BM , the letter goes to the CP bioDAD because, after all, DAD is supposed to be NCP...(insert massive eyeroll)

No agency will give two hoots that the NCP GUBM is committing TAX FRAUD and in all likelihood will feel sorry for the passive aggressive beotch!! (sigh)

This would be the case even if the BM filed AFTER bioDAD.
