One text that I was glad to read!

So, I looked at DH's phone when a text came through this morning.

Backstory:
DH cancelled SD13 and SD16 from his cell phone plan last month because they won't come visit and they won't respond to his text messages and/phone calls. SD13, when she has communicated with him, has sent him nasty messages demanding explanations for why we went to a certain restaurant, bought a new car, etc - when she doesn't have x,y, or z. Mind you, DH pays $2500 per month in CS and $1000 in alimony. (Disgusting). If we buy something new, she can shove it up her ass.

BM text him today wanting to know why SDs cell phone bill was so high since she's transferred them to her account. Hah! We used to have them running up $500 bills for going over their data limit. All the while, BM was demanding that DH upgrade SD13 to the iPhone. SD16 already had an iPhone.

So... I bet she upgraded both of them to the new iPhones and they went over the data allowance on her plan too! She was complaining that she didn't know they'd be so expensive and that she doesn't know what she will do because she doesn't have the money, etc. MIND you... when DH cancelled them, to be nice, he gave BM an extra bit of money to transfer them (which he shouldn't have done) and a little extra to pay the first bill. He was trying to avoid huge conflict, as he'd agreed in the past to pay their cell phones (no court order to do so though).

HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA! I hope they all get their phones disconnected.

:jawdrop: Holy SHIT, BATMAN!!!
First of all... a cell phone at 8 years old?! WTF.
Secondly, I would have shut that thing down after the first $500 bill! Our cell phone bill was $500 with 4 phones and I thought THAT was bad!

I just have to say that is WAY too much money to spend on ANY Ex & her kids! You poor thing, even dealing with alimony?? I personally think alimony should be banned. It's a thing of the past, really.

Thanks. I think so too! But, what the hell say do I get in anything, right?
2.5 years for one skid, 4 for the other, and 8 for the last. And, only 4 more years of alimony.
But, who's counting?

I agree! I had to buy my first car, pay for insurance, pay for a cell phone (which was a prepaid one, btw) and buy my own school clothes once I got to a certain age. My skids are the most spoiled, needy kids ever. But, DH and BM made them that way by always doing everything for them.

One time, DH told me that he had to wear hand-me-down clothes when he was a kid and he would NEVER make a single one of his kids wear something from a sibling. Wow. I LOVED when my older sister or cousins would hand down clothes to me! It was like Christmas!

This is why we bought our kid a phone that had only 4 pre-programed numbers after he abused the first phone and plan we bought him. 1. Mom 2. Dad (me) 3. 911 and 4. His school. No functions other than that. Other's could call him but he could not call anyone but the 4 fixed numbers. He was mortified to carry it from 8th - 9th grade. It was bright green and resembled a frog. }:) He never abused his plan again after that. He did great with his phone for the last 3 years of HS.

That will solve the problem.

Give it a try ..... if they are still available.

I've seen those! In fact, when I thought we were going to have to continue covering them, I thought we would! I think they're called Fireflies or something to that effect. Both SDs received cell phones when they were 12, so SS10 thinks he will also get one at 12. WELL, guess what? Our cell phone bank has dried up. Hopefully mom follows through on that promise for him. We aren't paying for any cell phones - even the frog ones! Hah! But, I love that you did this!

Oh, no! I totally agree. I am not against a 12yo having a cell phone... I'm just saying that my skids won't have one paid for by US! Smile Also - I agree... a 12 year old who is mature could have one and it would never be a problem. My skids always downloaded those ringtones you'd see on tv, went over their data plan, used up all the minutes, etc. OSD was blowing through all the minutes with her bf who was on another carrier. Even after we explained that the most minutes we could use today - between all 4 of us - was 30 minutes, she would still have 2 hour phone conversations with him. She had no regard for the money it cost to allow her such privileges. I was SO glad when DH finally had enough and disconnected them.

My kids are 9 and 11 and both have cell phones. They are often at practices/activities without me so it's a safety issue. But here's the thing...spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a child's cell phone is ABSOLUTELY insane. My kids can talk and text and that is it...$30 per month each. Our total bill for all 3 phones is $107 with unlimited talk/text. A child does NOT need more than that. That is where the spoiling comes in.

Another thing to think about... kids do stupid things. They don't understand the gravity of their stupid choices sometimes. When a kid engages in sexting, including sending/receiving pics, it can blow into a huge ordeal and many states are prosecuting it. Not to mention, if they can get online, they can watch as much porn as they want if you don't have these sites blocked. Even WITH a block on our computers, it's still accessible and I have to stay on top of it. Giving a kid a loaded cell phone is like giving him a year's supply of hustler (actually worse), and the means to ruin his own life if he brings somebody else into his world...and I think parents can be held liable, too. This isn't just about having crazy cell phone bills...it's about giving them full time access to the world before they are ready for it. BAD idea.

Oh yeah! Well... SD16 would send about 300-400 picture and video text messages to her boyfriend EVERY SINGLE month!!! When I brought this to DH's attention he asked her "Hey, SpoiledSD16 - are you sending anything inappropriate?" When she said no, he dropped it. Umm... hello! Kids can face FELONY charges for these things! Bury our heads in the sand. OH WELL! Not my kid - not my problem. And, she isn't on our plan anymore, like I said, so... up to her mom to track! Hahhhaaa! That was funny.

I'm amazed at the amount of stuff parents give their children today. Sure a emergency cell phone is a good idea, one that can call the two parents cell phones and grandma/pa and 911.

If a kid wants more than they they can get a job. Many of you are raising a generation of people who think that anything they want they should get and when the world slaps them up side the head they'll be unable to function as an adult.

That bitch gets 2500 for CS & 1000 for alimony a month and complains she doesnt have any money to pay for her spoiled selfish brat daughters cell phone bill??? MUST BE FUCKING NICE!!! I loathe your BM...she is the poster child of trash that makes us decent bm look bad!!!

StepDoormat's picture

Hahahaaaaa Tasha! This just MADE MY FREAKING DAY! She is a waste of space.
Wait a second - she is also required to work full time... so she works at the mall for minimum wage. The judge told her that she is capable of working a minimum wage job, so her CS and alimony calculations were dependent on that. SOOOOO. She makes $1300 a month on her own, after taxes. So... let's do the math: $4800 a month or $57,600 per year.

FOR SITTING ON HER ASS for 16 years and pushing 3 kids out of her nasty vagina. It makes me sick. I work 60+ hours per week and have my masters degree and don't make a whole lot more than her...
Not to mention that most of her income (the CS) is tax free.
