Going Bonkers with Extra Work

Sweetie's picture

It has already started to be a significantly difficult weekend. The heat seems to be here to stay.....meaning that the humidity does start to kick up and we have these "heat storms" accompanied by some wind, but no rain. My husband came home yesterday, which was Friday. I waited for him to change into shorts, which in itself, seemed like forever. I had taken the dogs out at a little after 4 p.m. We left the house to get a sandwich to eat shortly after 5 p.m. The wind was blowing but didn't seem to be blowing very hard. We weren't even gone an hour. When we came home to let the dogs outside, the wind had apparently been strong enough to sway the flowering peach tree that was at least 15 years old, and split the tree in two. I had cracked in half, literally and was quite a mess, leaving us plenty to clean up for days to come. There are now branches everywhere as well, aside from the fact, that the overhang on the remaining side, will probably need to be cut back by a professional landscaper, since we can't reach it, or that will fall and crack as well. It is standing about a good fifteen feet or so in front of our pool fencing. The heat has remained at about 100 degrees; my husband has been cutting with the chain saw, and I have been pruning with the loppers, and pruning shears as fast as I can go. Both of us are absolutely exhausted and it doesn't even look like we've even made a dent.
I haven't heard anything from my SS sent he left last weekend; his BD is coming up on the 8th of August, but I haven't decided about a BD card, since he just ignored my husband's last week, and mine in April. Apparently that stuff, isn't too important to him. Maybe I'll just start saying, I sent you a card, it must be in the mail somewhere. Sort of just like he couldn't even be bothered to send us a Christmas card, and then came to pick up a Christmas gift from us, and didn't even have one to exchange. And then on top of that, he paid a portion of my SD's brand new electric guitar. Of course, that had me pretty burnt. Like we aren't even deserving of a stamp! I just think it's so rude! And I know he's never going to change. So, I don't even know what I let myself get steamed. It's just that I expect people to be courteous and decent.
Well, the rain is still coming down, so I am doing laundry like crazy this afternoon and this evening. The puppy is restless and wants to play outside. I just washed all the blankets and comforters that were in his crate. He was just mesmerized watching everything coming out and getting cleaned. He really is pretty cute, but I am still trying to work on some behavior issues with him. The books that are written seem to conflict and he seems to like biting arms, feet, toes, and jumping to play on you. He actually is so tall he stands shoulder to shoulder with me now.
Well, I'd better be going and hope the rest of the weekend dries out or my yard will be floating.
Regards,
Sweetie

It's been hot here too in Honolulu, so hot even the fan at home can't even cool us off. Even if you were to just wear your undergarments you'll still be sweating! This weather is making my face oily most of the time. We need to get the margaritas out and make jugs and jugs of it.

Hi Happy Mom,
Here's an idea that may cool you off, what about making snow cone margaritas? Instead of using the flavored syrup, used the premade Margarita Winecoolers. It would probably be pretty good. My husband has been trying to get me to make beer snow cones but I am thinking he'd get a buzz too fast.
