Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

No, no and just no. Wait let me think. No. I HATE cabbage unless in pseudo Chinese food. My father tortured me with it fried on loads of butter and lardo/ bacon. Burnt lardo or bacon. And while I believe bacon could make a mud turd taste good, burnt bacon is disgusting.
Suaerkraut and short ribs.
Suaerkraut and short ribs. Marinate all day in a crock pot with caraway seeds and brown sugar. Awesome! My grandma's recipe. Otherwise with corned beef in the crockpot...
Try slicing it and roasting
Try slicing it and roasting it off in the oven with a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper and your fav savory spice(s).
I also used some red cabbage to make "cosmic dogs" http://www.foodnetworkfans.com/forum/alton-brown/12497-recipe-abs-best-t...

I make slaw to put in the freezer. It has a vinegar dressing instead of a mayo one. Love it!

Look online for a Jamie Oliver dish with pasta, cabbage, bacon and mozzarella. I've had to stop making this as I end up eating too much! Yummy!

I'd think you could make a nice dinner by roasting/sauteeing the cabbage, serving it with bacon or sausage, or hot boiled eggs, or poached eggs. And those bake-at-home rolls. Pretty inexpensive too!
With corned beef and baby
With corned beef and baby reds is my go to cabbage recipe.

Cut them in a one square inch, blanch it in boiling water for 30 second to a minute, fried dice bacon, saute onion, them mix all three together, salt and pepper to taste. Eat with anything you like, rice, noodle, corn beef....they reheat fine in microwave. This is the only way Dh will eat cabbage.
