Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

Glad we are done with that
Glad we are done with that crap. I didn't realize they got weekly payments though.
I like that the BM was able
I like that the BM was able to cut back on working to attend school and the CS supplemented less of what she was getting in income...here's a novel idea, use the CS for the KIDS, and supplement her lack of income with I don't know student loans.
Right! This is my exact
Right! This is my exact thought. If a Dad wanted to go back to school, they wouldn't reduce his support obligations. He would be expected to figure it out and potentially bury himself in debt. This is what is wrong with the system and why it needs to be updated. BMs often use the money to supplement their lifestyles or to lessen the blow of their financial decisions. They aren't getting paychecks to be BMs, they are supposed to be using CS to provide for the kids. This is why so many BMs alienate and weaponize their kids to maintain as much custody and CS as possible, to fund their lifestyle without earning or working for it.
I have it on good authority
From a prominent NY politician that CS will never be reformed. Too many are profiting off of it including the N.O.W.
This doesn't surprise me.
This doesn't surprise me. I know reform will never happen if people are profiting.
