Virtual Family Game ended up being hysterical
I had intended to not be on the Zoom call today, but the whole thing was so funny I could hardly not laugh. Actually I WAS laughing.
First off, DH was sitting at the kitchen table doing the call. I walked into the room from one direction and my BS27 walked in from the other way, so we ended right behind DH in view of the camera. So I told BS27 "why don't we say hi to DH's family?"
They mumbled a hello to both and then fidgeted looking nervous.....they hadn't expect to see me at all. Then they stared at my son, who my OSD has not seen in 10 years. I might be biased, but he is very tall and looks a lot like Enrique Iglesias. BS needed my help with our iron so I went with him to help him.
So after that I did some final cleaning since our company was going to show up soon. I occasionally would go over to DH to see everyone, and they would just get fidgety and not look at me. It's clear they had told the cousins to ignore me also; they had smug smiles on their faces like they were all in on the game. Prior to this, just the aunt had started to play games with them. Now it's the cousins (there's just a few) also.
They played their stupid Family Jeopardy game; I am so glad I have not had to hear OSD's fake laugh the last several years.
I went back to the family room, DH was finishing cooking in the kitchen and the zoom call was still going on. I was trying not to laugh and had already been drinking a little wine. So I went back to the table and just sat down right in front of the laptop to watch them squirm. Trying not to crack up.
Then our oldest cat, one both of the SDs know, walked in the room. I picked her up to show her to the SDs and they did no acknowledging whatsoever. I tried talking, no acknowledgement.
So DH came over and said "Can you hear me? SM is trying to talk to you! Why are you not acknowledging her?!" So oh yes, he noticed.
They all got off the call right after that. I knew YSD would go into face saving mode immediately, so she texted DH and I "ok I could not hear or see while sharing my screen on Zoom - what did I miss?" Of course, even though everyone else told DH they could hear him. I so much want to respond that it had to have been difficult to play a Zoom game when you couldn't hear or see the game participants!
I really just would love to respond and tell her exactly what I think of her. DH is disappointed in them and I think a little embarrassed, these girls are 45 and 43! I'd like to tell her she included me on the invite to play family jeopardy, wanted to readjust the schedule because of ME, so she's the one that should be answering some questions.
Should I respond to her text or just let it go?

Let it go - you handled that
Let it go - you handled that great. You showed up, had fun and they knew you weren't upset by their antics, in fact, THEY had to squirm and were caught off guard. Plus, you not being upset showed them in their true colors to DH.
Nice work!
Thank you! We are not
Thank you! We are not fighting, DH is embarrassed.
Right - instead of him
Right - instead of him blaming you or thinking you should have joined or whatever, he could see what they were doing.
You did good!
He can see what they are doing. You dont have to say a word. I would ignore SD (forever).
It's a victory for you, those
It's a victory for you, those few times your DH recognizes their rotten behavior. No need to push it any further.
You won this round!
Yeah, I agree with everyone.
Yeah, I agree with everyone. Ignore her. Your DH knows they were up to no good and called them out on it. Done.
Not responding sends them the
Not responding sends them the message that you were not upset and were just going about your life. Sitting there wuth the cat, talking with your son, cooking, zoom was on. Whatever. Business as usual.
Better to zoom
Then see them in person. Just should of played with WiFi router. Has to reboot. ,, Fell on the floor
Happy Thanksgiving
I would just let it go. They
I would just let it go. They embarrassed themselves - and it was clear that the original invitation was a set up. How pathetic!
HAHA
So they played their exclusionary game and lost . Daddy saw it! Best result ever. I sure hope he gives them a mouthful when he goes to visit the Royal family.
Lamby you did well, it all worked in your favour and the witches were exposed. I would ignore her text. Let them try to grovel to daddy next time he sees them. The Karpman triangle was well played you stayed the victim.
Love the victories we get, because all too often we are seen as the persecutor.
I am sure all will be
I am sure all will be forgotten when he gets to the Holy Land and sees those super speshul snowflakes.
Why can't these dumb women in their 40's get a life? Does behaving like this REALLY make them happy?
These women
are emotionally stunted and stuck in their teen mean girl mentality. My guess they sat in glee after feeling smug that they ignored you. It is so pathetic. Let them enjoy their nastiness. As they say what goes around comes around. Obviously they are not happy within themselves. You have to remember too it kills them inside that daddy has happiness that has nothing to do with them, and everything to do with you. Its a kick in the gut for these SD's that daddy's world no longer revolves around them.
Some people apparently don't
Some people apparently don't grow up ever and are stuck in the "mean girl" mentality. Very sad for them. Being 34 and reading about these grown women and their antics is mind blowing.
Are they HCBMs too?
Their mother is definitely an
Their mother is definitely an HCBM. They learned their traits from her. DH is basically a marshmellow.
so funny, SL!! loved every
so funny, SL!! loved every word of your post! genius moves.
seen right through the stupidity.
reminds me of MIL cutting my face out of photos and me seeing it on her walls. She tries to justify it with stupid excuses with no logic.
wouldn't want your face to be in center of their royal eyeballs
I found out they immediately
I found out they immediately texted DH after the zoom call ended to get reassurance.
YSD texted that she felt like she did something wrong. OSD texted it was good to see SM.
LOL! OSD has had zero interest in seeing, talking to me, apologizing to me, anything, for 5 years. A little over the top, I think.
DH did not respond.
Zoom Call Thanksgiving
My Dh's family we had that as well yesterday. Everyone trying to talk at once, no one really able to say anything at all that made any sense.
I have a Sunday Zoom that I do with my friends. We take turns listening to each other. We go around the "room", and take turns speaking about something that is meaningful to us.
You had me at Enrique Iglesias! LOL.
These simpleton relatives, who lack depth and character, really they get what they deserve which is to not see YOU squirm, and for their father to understand their games and machinations and be disappointed in them
I think Zoom is great when it
I think Zoom is great when it's used the right way (glad I am retired though; I would not have been able to do my laundry on work conf calls if Zoom were around then).
I knew when Zoom came out that it was a matter of time before my SDs would find a not-so-nice use for it.

I do not miss the games of stephell. Glad your DH sees the light.
These B*TCHES never miss a beat do they? Their games advance with advanced technology. So glad they utilized zoom as their new weapon of choice. They are old too, how f=cked up that is. I am certain if I stayed with DH my sh*tty SD would be the same or worse the older she gets.
Be glad it was in zoom and not in person .
It amazes me they still act
It amazes me they still act like this at their age. I think they get worse as they get older because they know there is money to be had.
Ah...yes. You raise a good
Ah...yes. You raise a good point. The games they play stay pretty much the same but the motivation changes...although $$ is usually at the root of it one way or another.
